I've been curious to learn how many 1st Gen Tundras were manufactured. I thought a simple Google search would yield the answer, but no luck.

Q: Does anyone know how many were manufactured?

And for extra credit, how many are still on the road?

In totality, looks like just under 750k were made between 2000-06 (1st Gen). You could look up average vehicle destroyed rates and extrapolate a ball park figure on those that have gone bye bye.

Looks like 2002 is the rarest vintage.

I feel my price going up.

Did a quick search and insurance site says about 10-20% a year get totaled. Unsure how to apply their metrics because they aren’t clear.

Quick math says not many left. Age and rust have played a big factor on top of accidents.

I’d guess less than 300k on the road today.

I think it depends on location. Not much rust down here in TN. I have 4 first gen owning neighbors within walking distance of my house. I see first gens driving all the time.

Yeah I see them all the time too but it is amazing how many more you notice once you own one too I think.

I also have an Element and I know there are not that many around but I think they are all in my area too based on how many I see all the time!

Same for my Sprinter which is a T1N "Baby" version which were by far the least made and sold model and yet I see them around a lot as well?

Now both of my Tundra' are RCLB and those are truly tougher to spot but just Yesterday I saw 5 others right by my house somehow, even 2 that are not 1st Gen!

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

They are a dime a dozen in Colorado. It's not even that I notice more cause I drive one, it's just that many are still around. There are six in my neighborhood alone and thats not including mine.

Same up here in NW Washington. I will often see 15-20 just around town.

I see quite a few here, and more rather pristine low mileage examples have been popping up.

    I wonder about this occasionally.

Not to derail this thread, but I've always wondered what this stamp indicates on the radiator guard in the engine bay.

I see them driving around. I don’t see many clean, low mile ones for sale. Everyone seems to keep them or beat them. :notsure:

That’s the body number they use to track it in the factory. That build sheet I found above my headliner is attached to it and that’s how they determine options before the vin is ever attached

Interesting. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. So do we all have a build sheet hidden somewhere?

My whole interior has been gutted except for the dash and I've not found it.

Probably not. I just happened to have an employee that hid it in mine.
