Just taking a poll to see how Tundra owners are driving their trucks. Some people drive like little old ladies and others have a lead foot.

(not me flooring it at 33 miles)

I like to drive with a lead foot but I always feel bad for the truck even though I know others are much harder on them. I save it for the rental cars

I'm starting to realize I am getting old. I don't drive like I used to and I'm thinking about getting a topper for my truck because they seem really handy.

Glad that isn't you. Not good to floor it in a brand new truck. Talk about break in period. More like Break period

I tend to drive 10-12 over the limit. In GA if you’re not at least 15 over it’s no points on your license. I rarely floor it and hold it but I do get on it fairly hard pretty often. Love the sound.

I don't like the idea of unnecessary wear and tear on my machinery. I don't run any of my stuff hard, that goes for my boat, motorcycle, and vehicles. As @Black Wolf mentioned tickets and insurance premiums, add cost to fix things damaged by abuse.....just not worth it to me.

But if your a tool in my arsenal, then you can expect to endure some shit. :crapstorm:

Drive it in tow/haul mode all the time so it's a lot of fun to drive. I floor it every once in a while, love the motor in this thing

I have noticed that in Georgia if you are not going 90mph on the highway the Cops will run you over!

I'm pretty casual. I generally just drive normal around town and as I get older I spend less time in the left lane on the highway. But the truck purrs even at 80, so while it might take me longer to get up to speed I still enjoy flying low sometimes.

I do rail it every week or two on a freeway onramp. Nothing wrong with an old Italian tune-up occasionally. My last truck, a Turd, really "learned" your driving style and adjusted how the throttle responded. If I didn't get into the throttle every week or so, when I really needed the power applied it thought I was kidding.

On the highway yes, for sure, but if you are on the back roads you better keep it close to the speed limit cuz Johnny Law in GA loves to give out tickets

I just took mine on a semi-long trip for the first time. Speed limit was 70 mph on the highway, so pretty much everyone goes 75-85 mph. I stuck the cruise in at 78-79 most of the way, did fine and engine rpm was fairly low at 2450 or so. She has a drinking problem it seems....over a 600ish mile trip it only averaged 13.5 !!! :eek2::eek2:

I knew the gas milage wasn't great before I bought a Tundra, but I guess I expected a little better than that....maybe 14-16? Not towing either. Other than that, seems to run great. First bigger truck I've owned as I only had a small S10 4X4 truck before this one so I can't compare.

Ive always believed that some "Spirited Driving" at higher Rpm's is actually beneficial to any engine to reduce the chance of carbon buildup. I babied mine for 1000 miles, changed the oil, now i drive it like it should be driven, there's a 5900 red line there for a reason.

That is poor fuel economy, I seem to get 17-19 mpg on highway and usually drive between 70-80 mph. What I don't understand is your rpm at 2450, sounds like your not in sixth gear.

I find that the older I get, the less concerned I am about going fast. I take it easy and enjoy my ride, but will jump on it every now and then when needed.

*Sigh* The older I get, the less appetite I have for spending time and money on damage and replacing parts any sooner than I have too. That includes tires. So I don't do burnouts or donuts anymore... but do occasionally enjoy a spirited (controlled) romp on the go pedal. It's not that I don't find donuts and burnouts fun, they are, just not the hundreds of dollars worth of fun it costs to replace tires every year.

Funny... none of that mattered when I was young and broke. Now that I'm old and have the means to cover it financially, I don't do it. Hmmm. I wonder if there might be any correlation to how I drive now vs the money in my pocket, compared to my younger days?

Exactly. Sixth gear at 80 is just over 2k I believe.

I have noticed in my previous cars that if I didn't floor it for a few months at a time it would smell like sulfur when I finally did ‍♂️

Usually gently enough to get 22 mpg highway. But sometimes if I've been driving my wife's Corolla, I forget that I don't have to step on it so much to get going.

As noted above, keeping it under 2000 rpm really seems to help with the fuel economy.

My truck has almost all real highway miles on it (2016 w/ 97K mostly 5 hour plus trips). 13.5 MPG highway seems to be where it is stuck. I do have Duratracs and a winch bumper.

I drive it fairly hard. Don't like tickets so I do pay attention to that most off the time.
