That’s strange. No matter what has been flying up on to the sides of my truck including different types of tire shine as well as whatever road debris has gotten on there, I’ve been able to get off. Do you keep your truck waxed? What kind of tire shine are you using? Maybe you should switch brands once you figure out how to get your paint clean.

Put a bit of lacquer thinner on a rag and wipe those spots off then rewax where you wiped.

This is stuff i used on my last white Tundra. I think my mistake was not waxing it first. I stupidly dressed the tires after getting it from the dealer. Will not so that again!

I have ordered Tarminator to try. Trying to avoid trying magic eraser and stuff at that level just yet. May need to take to a detailer and just have them try.

I’m a believer in that first wax. When I brought my truck home I washed, clay bar, and sealed it. I try to hand wax every couple of months but I use spray wax after each wash to give it some type of protection. Lately I’ve been using tech 2.0 Maguires wax which is a type of sealant. I get about six months out of it with spray wax in between.

Yeah I can’t argue there. I just got excited about the new tires and didn’t do that. Dumb

Reading thru the posts, are we sure it’s tire shine sling?? Honestly, it sounds like you may need to visit a body shop or Professional Detailer. The cutting compound you tried should have done something not to mention the other suggestions.

I am pretty sure. It wasn’t there before and only appeared after I put stuff on the tires. I am going to a detailer if nothing else works.

Had a detailer look at it and tried a little lacquer thinner, but didn't work. He said he has never seen anything like it. Seems like it only stained the plastic surfaces. The metal surfaces seemed to have rubbed off okay.

Going to try a couple other noninvasive tips, then if that doesn't work I will leave it alone. I think something needs to sit on the surface and penetrate to get the stains out. If nothing works, it will just look up close like a got the truck a little dirty always. Could be worse... Perhaps the sun and our thin ozone layer will help fade them out too, lol.

Dang, and not even a polish will take it out? Have you tried something like Griot's Complete Compound?

I had some spots like that on my wife’s white XB. I tried different professional polishes. Everything from heavy cut to fine cut. Nothing worked. Clay bar, bug and tar remover. Then one day I tried Maguires cleaner wax. It took that shit right out. Give it a shot I don’t know what it’s got in it, but it worked. Those spots were there from day one and we’ve had the car for eight years.

Liquid. Found it at O’Reillys. Under 10 bucks I think. I’ve used that stuff in the past on my friends white vehicle and it was pretty impressive how much whiter it got. It might have something to do with a lot of white vehicles are not clear coated so you have to treat them a little differently.

Thanks, I will give it a shot. This is cleared of course, and seems to only stick in the plastic, but at this point I will try anything. The Tarminator was a bust as well..

Are you sure it’s got clearcoat? I’m pretty sure that Toyota white is a single stage paint. Maybe the bumper ends are different?

I think most paint shops clear everything. Have you ever seen an old Toyota truck with Miss matched paint? I noticed a white one today that had one fender that was shiny and the rest of the truck was chalky. The shiny fender looked to be an old repair job that they must’ve clearcoated. It probably matched perfectly until the truck got old.
