Hi wondering about what tint you guys are running on your trucks here in TX. I bought mine with tint already on it but I see a lot of other trucks with darker tint all over the place. Do they not really enforce the tint rules in TX? I’d hate to pay for removal and reapply darker but I’m thinking about it!

    Flux capacitor!
DPS does enforce the tint laws. When you go for inspection they will check your window tint. I have darker tint but I do have a Dr’s note due to over sensitive eyes to light and eye surgery. I’ve heard of some law agencies that even ask who did the tint.

Great thanks for the info. The state I moved from was also very strict.

Front windows, net 25%, back and rear windows, limo tint. Thinking about doing the eye brow as well.

Did Ceramic 18% front and 80% in the rear. Rear Glass is dyed so it doesn't actually repel heat. Ceramic tint is worth it.

I had ceramic 50% up front and 5% from the b-pillar back.

Same in the Avalon. 4runner has no tint yet. =(

    • Windshield: 25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection.
    • Front Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in.
    • Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used.
    • Rear Window: Any darkness can be used with side outside mirrors, 25% VLT without.

What’s the key word to tell the tint shop to go a bit darker I see people riding around with dark tint in the front

In my state, it requires a medical reason. The shop that did mine said he could go darker only with an official prescription that he would keep on file for potential liability reasons.

Didn't explicently say but I would assume any licensed physician. Even though I am medically sensitive to bright light, I did not go with tint that exceeded the state law because a) my sunglasses do me just fine and b) I didn't want to draw attention to myself and give a reason to get pulled over.
