I have a 2016 Tundra SR5. I just lifted my front end with a 2.4" Ready Lift leveling kit. I'm currently running 20" wheels with 275/55R20's, and would like to run as tall and wide a tire as possible. The problem I see is that when I cut the wheel with my current tires all the way, there is less than 1" of clearance. Is anyone running anything bigger than what I currently have on my truck, without running into rubbing problems during hard cornering?

Hi John, have you checked out the wheel thread? You can find the link in my signature.

Which wheel do you have? I had bfg kos in 285/55/20 on tss wheels at stock height with no rubbing. Added 5100s on top setting and added 295/55/20 toyo oc rt tires. At full lock, the drivers tire rubbed the skid plate. Bent it up some and no more rubbing. I wanted 305/55/20 tires but i think they would have rubbed the body mount and uca. There is not much clearance with my tires and the uca now.

    My wheels are Fuel Savage 20" x 9" with a +1 offset.

Are you running stock, or do you also have a leveling kit on your truck? If so, how much did you raise your front end?

I did a search, and scrolled and scrolled but didn't find an answer to my question. I'll admit it could be there, but honestly I'm just trying to save time by asking the direct question here.

Stock with 285 initially, then about 2.25" lift with bilstein 5100 shocks and 295s now.

You were able to get 295's to run without damaging them? My leveling kit raised the front end only by 2.4", but I don't think I have enough clearance to run those. I have less than 1" of clearance when I cut the wheel hard, and 295's are over a full inch taller than my 275's.

Am now considering 305/50R20's, which are 1.26" wider but only .16" taller than what I currently have on. Do you think those should fit okay? Has anyone else tried this size tire on their newer Tundra?

No rubbing with my 295s since i bent the skid plate up on the drivers side. 295 is only about 1" taller than a 275, so a half inch more tire from the wheel each way. 305 width may rub the uca and cab mount, it depends on your wheel offset.

Best bet is to search for trucks similar to yours with the same wheel and see what tires they are running.

Mines a 4x4, if yours is not (you didnt say)that may be the difference.

Yes, my truck is a 4 x 4. I think I am going to try the 305/50R20. Although it is not quite as tall as I would like (only picking up .16" in height over what I currently am running), it is a four ply tire which is what I have now and I like the softer ride. I really don't go off road enough to justify getting a 10 ply tire, which is what the 285 or 295's are. And although the 305/50R20's are 1.26" wider than my current tires, my tires sticking out only .63" really shouldn't cause me any big clearance problems... at least that is what I am hoping.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my posts!
