Has anyone here used Hooke Road Bumpers before?

Its a really good deal for a combo and looks pretty sweet but that price is too good to be true.

It looks like from your profile Picture you might have already gotten the Hooke Road bumper mounted on your rig. How is it? I ahve one on order and am wondering which winch to purchase that'll fit without much fuss.

I haven't put any winches on just yet, but I did my research and the harbor freight ones kick ass. As for the bumper, its OK. The installation was straight forward and the instructions sucked. I had to replace two bolts because they kept stripping. There was an issue with it not being even on both sides but I fixed it with a carjack and bolt tightening. The light pods they provide are great, super bright. I'm waiting on a replacement light pod because one of them wouldn't stop flickering. Make sure when you get them to apply gasket sealer.

For the rear bumper, I had to hammer my trailer hookup to get it to fit into my rear bumper and had to glue my license plate lights into the holes because the holes were too small and allowed them to slightly move, I just 3m'd my license plate since they don't have license plate brackets and the holes that the bumper does have isn't threaded.

Overall, the quality of the bumper is expected for a budget bumper set, but not rusting yet, minimal damage from shipping and the customer service is pretty nice.

Its a budget offroad bumper that gave me nice clearance and If I had the money i'd get it linex'd And it looks great and offers protection to my grill.

My main complaint is that it was a 3 piece bumper.

Thanks! I was thinking about replacing all the bolts with some high quality ones already, glad there were no major hiccups. I assume that after the bumper's on, the tire size would be more restricted by the rear wheel well/UCAs and not rubbing in the front?

Yes, exactly. Here's a different picture for reference. The only thing restricting the wheels now are the wheel well, and the body. Which at that point you should have a lift anyway.

Man, truck looks killer with the accessory lights and all the black, similar to the look I'm targeting! Excellent work! See you around!

Thanks, its the custom look i'm going for, I plan on getting a roof rack and sports bar eventually, and a 4" lift.

I have a front and rear set on the way for my 08. Is there wiring harness included we ith the light pods/light bar, I'm pretty shitty at electrical but hoping it would be pretty straight forward?

Got my front bumper on Thursday night! Should have the light pids hooked up to my fig lights the next day or so, and still figuring out how I'm hooking up the light bar to my highs hopefully with a 3way switch if I can find one to fit

It was pretty simple. You can use a Toyota Diagram.
Any issues with shipping or alignment?

OME Nitrocharger/2612 (front), Bilstein 5100s (rear). Vanguard roll bar modified (by me) to fit over Patriot Stealth retractable tonneau. Aftermarket halo headlights with HID, various LED bulb replacements. 17" Fuel Blitz wheels with some 33" Nitto terra grapplers. Hoodscoop, nfab nerfbars, Bushwacker flares. No-name aftermarket grille, led fender extensions. Black Horse bambi-basher. Various offroad lights.
From what reviews I could find seems like all the HR rear bumpers (2 styles) have a problem with the trailer hook-up and license plate lights (wrong size, poor location). But if you're able to do a lil' bit of metal work seems like they are considered a decent bumper for the money.

I ordered them on a Monday and recieved them that Thursday. Shipping was fine, boxes looked a bit beat up, but the way FedEx treats shit I wasnt surprised. I took photos of the boxes just incase I needed to file a claim, opened em up and they were decently packed in foam sheet. A few nicks here and there (maybe 4 or 5 total between the 2 bumpers) nothing a quick blast of flat black rattle can couldn't fix

Install was super easy and they lined up great.
Got the front LED pods hooked up to my factory fog light plug. The no hardware for the light bar so I havemt git around to that yet. And my rear pods are still on my work bench till I get around to getting all the components to hook em up to my reverse lights

Overall pretty happy. The 3 piece design was the only thing I was hesitant of, but I needed a new front bumper ASAP and didn't have the funds for something nicer. And got a matching set for less then most fronts.

My trailer plug is mounted bellow my bumper next to the reciever, I might take a look and see if it'll fit in the bumper and get it up out of the way. But no need as of now.

As far as the lights, I had a broken bulb and was going to replace them with LED anyways, so I just picked up a new set of lights off Amazon. But I did test fit the factory Toyota lights, they fit fine. The only issue was on my Toyota bumper there is a SQUARE hole with a red plastic clip that pops in, then a coarse thread (wood) screw threads in and expands it to secure. The HR bumper is just a ROUND 1/4"+- hole no threads. So I went down to ACE and picked up two of these blue drywall anchors, tapped em in and used two new stainless wood screws to secure the lights. Worked perfect, just needed to clip a 1/4" off the back of the anchor to clear the wires and plug for the lights. Less then $1 for the anchors and screws. I wanted to leave the factory lights in the stick bumper fir when I try to sell it.

I bought the Hooke Road bumper set (front/rear with lights) on eBay for less than $1k a few months back. My truck is a 2011. Install wasn’t easy peasy but I got it done with a couple buddies holding on the front wings as I tightened bolts.

    Complaints:
1: The rear bumper touches my tailgate when it’s down. I need to either grind the corners down or put cloth on the rear bumper where it hits my tailgate.
2: The gap between my rear bumper and tailgate is excessive and looks like poop. Bumper is as low as it can go and still touches the tailgate when it’s down.
3: Front bumper ends are flimsy and can easily get bent. I was able to straighten my right front wing but the left side is bent beyond fixing. I could just buy a new front Hooke Road bumper and use it for parts…
4: Paint flakes off after the flimsy metal bends and rust develops quickly if you don’t immediately repaint it (good luck matching the rest of the bumper).
5: I installed and used my winch a couple of times and it requires bumper realignment after each winch use. My bolts are torqued to spec but the pull exceeds the tension and friction between the smooth metal surfaces of the front 4-piece bumper.

Overall: I got what I paid for. I went cheap and these bumpers lived up to the price spec. They looked Fantastic on Day 1. If you’re doing tight woods or rock crawling you should look for something else as I should have.

Eventually i'm going to save up for fab4 or something like that with all the bells and whistles. This was just temporary and looks and works great for the time being. No complaints after 4 months of offroad and onroad use. I didn't get a winch yet so that is interesting.

On these Hooke bumpers has anyone come up with or found a solution to the need for a skid plate from the bumper to the factory oil pan skid plate?
Seems like a great place to hit a rock and tear something up.

    thanks

Could any of you guys who installed the hooke road front bumper on a 2007-2013 post pictures from the side if you have a moment? All the pictures I'm finding online show a hideous gap where the bumper meets the upper wheel well. Is that only certain models of the hooke road? Thanks!

Did you splice the LED pod wires directly to the factory fog light wires? I just installed my Hooke bumper. Wasn’t sure about the LED fogs.
