I got this half bed width slide out second hand. Refurbed it a little and bolted straight to the truck bed. Has been working great to hold a fully loaded yeti (200ish lbs). Pictures below.

I need suggestions on a good locking mechanism to prevent it from sliding during travel. The way it was built allows it to drop down on itself when pushed all the way in, so the metal on metal contact holds a lot of the movement but I need something more.

The barrel latch pictured is already starting to deform. I added it last week and it already has a lot of play in it from being jostled around.

Any suggestions on a latch for this application.

    Too many, but not enough....
What about a heavy duty clasp type latch like is used on the tailgate tire swing outs?

...Or a couple rubber straps like your yeti probably has?

Spring pins with a roller on each side would work as well. I like the cabinet latch idea.

Something like this? Might work, but I haven't been able to find one in the right dimensions yet.

I actually had this thought too but figuring out the mounting system for either end would be a pain, also I think they're a little big for the spot.

I am going to check these out further, looks like best case scenario if it can handle heavy duty applications. There will be several hundred pounds of force working on it during acceleration and especially when climbing hills.

I was starting to go down this route, something similar to how cargoslide systems work, then I could even have multiple locking points if I needed to extend on a slope without it retracting.

Pretty sure this would fall apart day on at that the rivet.

Thanks for all the help guys. For now the barrel latch has still be holding, but if/when it fails I have some good ideas to work with.

The barrel latch has held up so far so I haven't changed it out.
