serting up a new 60” and looking for audio. What do you have and recommend? Looking to spend under $1000 if possible including the amp.

What should I get? And why?
    • 3.1 system like Bose 3-2-1
    • Soundbar w subwoofer
    • 5.1 surround
    • Free standing speakers?
    • Others?

I’d like to hear your setups and price

    *********************************

I went ahead and went with the Sonos PLAYBAR + sub. Really happy with my purchase.

I have Sonos. Absolutely amazing! I have the bar and sub ATM. I love how you play speakers in separate rooms for different audio.

TV is about .34 degrees low on the right side. I’d fire the prick that hung that TV. LMAO

    Looks good, and sounds great!!!

How did you wall mount the sound bar?
    Is the sub wireless?
Never looked into Sonos. Looking into it now. Know the best place to buy it?

@ColoradoTJ hung my TV to the wall but the bar literally mounts to the tv bracket mount.
The sub is wireless, minus the power cord. The system can be synced to Alexa, adjust audio settings, play from your phone, laptop, tv etc.

I purchased it from BestBuy as I had a $150 GC to use towards it. I want to add on more speakers for upstairs, and maybe even my study.

A little this and that...Broke now
I got a Yamaha rx-a750 7.2 amp with Definitive Technology Satellites (1000 series) and 10" sub in the tv room it rocks..I got a dennon 7.1 amp with Boston Acoustics satellites and 10" sub in my bedroom...Awesome sound easy under a grand. I spent extra for monster speaker wire..Best buy all the way. I really like the Yamaha amp and once my Dennon fails ill be replacing it with Yamaha. Downside I got wires that I had to run and then get them covered up.

I love my Sonos. Wife got t for me for Christmas. I have the playbase instead of the bar. I don’t have a good spot to mount my tv on the wall, so it works better for me.

I also have the sub, and two Play1’s for surround. It’s amazing. Get you some Play1’s Sean, or 3’s, or 5’s. I love the tv sound, and had no idea what I was missing playing video games in Dolby surround.

Oh yeah, OP said under a grand. You can stay under that if you don’t get the sub. But get the sub.

Got mine at Best Buy. Price is pretty much the same everywhere. Everything is wireless, minus power cords. I have the playbase, sub, and two play1’s. I had a good deal of Best Buy rewards dollars to spend, but all in this is about double your 1k budget.

    Playbase / Playbar - 699
    Sub - 699
Play1’s -150 for standard, 200 for the ones with Alexa.

Can’t beat Sonos for bang for your buck sound quality and ease of set up. Just make sure you have a decently speedy internet connection.

I almost got the ppaybase, but I didn’t want to add stuff in the wooden furniture thing. They both sound:rimshot: equal in terms of quality. The sub is legit. Hits very clean!

I don’t have a decent spot for wall mount. The wall in my living room has a deep cutout for an entertainment center or console. It sits too far back if I put it on the wall.
My tv just sits on top of the playbase, so that was a better option for me.

I love the sound, and the set up is a breeze for all of the components. Sonos app is great.

this is where i get a little geeky. i have wanted a movie room for a long time. when we bought our current house, we had a perfect room for it and a little money left over so, down the rabbit hole i went.

we're running NAD components with B+W fronts, sides and rears. sub is REL with two 10s in it. one firing down and one firing out the side. the NAD receiver allows for upgrades. you can open it up and swap out boards. it all goes to an epson projector. only running 1080 at the moment because the 4k projectors are still stupid expensive. screen is 100". had thought about 120 but the 100 fits the space much better and is plenty big.

    the result is indescribable.

Did you go with theater seating?

We did the same thing when we moved into our new house. My office turned into a movie room. 10' screen, with epson 1080p projector. I went easy with the stereo, a vizio soundbar with a sub. Sams club had a motorized theatres seats for $250/ea one black friday and snagged two of them.

no. house was built in 1946. with the exception of the front door, all of the doorways are 30" wide. we looked at so many chairs but nothing would fit down the stairs into the basement. so, we have some big joe bean bags. surprisingly comfortable and the kids (and their friends) love them.

I almost bought 2 of those off Amazon instead of the theater chairs. Great minds......

I have a Bose system in the living room that i got a costco for around $600. Comes with a reciever, the cube speakers and the sub. Sounds great, but a shit load of wires everywhere. If i could do it again, i'd probably go with a 3.1/5.1 sound bar just to keep it simple.

@Sean266 how is the mids/bass with just the playbar? I been reading reviews and nothing but excellent feedback so I am going this route!
Anyone also running the rear surrounds with their playbar and sub? Im thinking it may be overkill and stop at the sub.

Also what are you guys using to connect the playbar to the TV? optical?

It’s ok. You’re not going to feel it in the floor or anything without the sub.
