Let's see those decorations for this year!

We, meaning my girlfriend for the past 17 years, starts decorating the day after Thanksgiving. This means I start drinking earlier as well. :D

If the weather wasn’t total ass outside with a slice of wind, she would have been on the roof today as well.

    She’s just getting started....

If it were just me, Dec 20th would be the date to do decorations. Removal on New Years Day, depending on how hung over or if there is a Jeeping event that day.
Last years Jeep event was -29*. No thanks.

I told my builder I had to have a roof that I could walk on to clean gutters and hang lights - it was super important to me (especially with young kids for Christmas).
After the house was built a few years back I climbed on top, and about shit my pants when I went to plug in some cameras. I was soo damn furious I didn’t know what to do.
9/12 he said was max without gear, and unless you’re some Fing super human spider man it ain’t happen’n. I wondered why there was boards nailed everywhere when they were shingling, and figured that out later.
I want Christmas lights so bad! We were quoted $600 for setup and take down just for doing the front ridges.
I checked into renting a lift and it’s just as expensive.
Last year I just lighted our entrance, this year I might do garage doors and try to do lower level windows.

We actually just started the season off right tonight! I was going to create a thread on it.
I’m so super grateful that both my kids love Home Alone, and also Gremlins and a few other great older movies! I think it’s crazy that their favorite Christmas movie as a kid, were mine as well.
Tonight started Home Alone 1, and we’re half way through it :D
With a nice wood fire

Started putting up lights today but got so damn cold I had to take breaks and eventually stop. I’m about 1/4-1/2 way done. Won’t start the inside till next weekend. Typically it’s the first weekend in December for decorations. Outside lights typically sooner if I can find a good weather weekend.

The wind is what concerns me the most out here. It just gets dirt nasty at times. Right now it’s only 20*F, which really isn’t that cold, but the high wind chill is what gets you out here, -1*F. Most of our lights would get blown off or just damaged. The wife wants to try it, but I have a little bit of reservation to do so. The entry way, front trees, and fence would be pretty good if you ask me.

We have been out of power for going on two hours. House has only dropped from 71 to 69 degrees. Not bad.

My cut off tonight is 65 degrees in the house and time to get the generator hooked up. Think it’s time to get a more permanent solution for power outages. I was chatting with @T-Rex266 about 30 minutes ago, and they have some good power outages going on north of Denver.

My thoughts go out to the power plant personel and linemen tonight. They’re going to earn a wage tonight.

    Powers on.

Good job linemen. We seen the recloser hit three times and that was it. Tree branch must have fallen into the primary.

Dang! That’s crazy! LED’s (try to go 2800K color) are less likely to break during wind storms. Good luck with that!
I’d definitely be looking at a permanent generator solution for sure! They make some affordable (well, $3,000 o_O) permanent ones that can wire in to your normal panel and auto-kick on. We get 4 to 5 outages a year but they’re only 12 hours max so we fire up the wood stove to keep warm and use gas to cook.
It’s the Fridges we worry about on long spells. I have the generator plug but my generator isn’t big enough to keep the circuits I have on the plug going. :(
    One of these days lol

I will be putting up a tree for the first time in 34 years LOL. No seriously.

My carpet gets installed finally on Tuesday, tree goes up same day then next Saturday a trip to my middle brothers to pick up some of our late mothers decorations. She loved this time of the year..

The all of the remodel receipts, Tundra receipts from @Roman, and refi gets put under it, LOL...and maybe a few stripped lowers for future rifle builds

My wife is saying she doesn't want to decorate outside this year. We'll be doing the inside of the house.
How much do you want to bet I am doing something outside when I get home?
