My 2019 seems to idle high at startup. Worst thing in the world is for a cold engine to high idle before oil flows. It idles around 1200-1300 RPM, then will eventually settle down to about 600 after it warms up. I know 600 is not considered high idle by any means, but it seems to have trouble stopping, as though it were in high idle. I have also been hearing what I assume is fuel injectors, making it sound like it's low on oil. Have only had it 2 weeks.

Mine does it. Probably does it cause of emissions crap.

If yours ticks, Ive seen a few do it. Everything I found says it’s normal. Mine does it from drivers side of engine.

It’s normal. I recommend driving after it settles down.

I guess I have too much time with street cars, and cold starts and ticking make me nervous. LOL Thanks guys.

Remember carburetors and their high idle cams? High idle here serves the same purpose here, to get the engine up to operating temperature quickly. Only it's all computer controlled now-a-days.

Completely normal, get out and drive it put some break in miles on it. It should settle down some.

Forgot to say earlier, the ticking has something to do with the VVT thing.

My 18 also makes like a fan noise for a second when I turn it off that my 10 never did. More emissions stuff.

Ya, that's the Secondary Air Injection System running to try to clear out any moisture that may have gotten in, it also runs on start-up as mentioned by @Grey Wolf. On the older Second Gen trucks it would only run on a cold start to get more air into the converters to light them off, for emissions. It was noticed that the SAIS was getting moisture in them and they were corroding and failing, at great expense, so now they run on shutdown by default too, or there's an ECU re-flash from the dealer that will make them do so. There's also an aftermarket by-pass that can be installed.

The frustrating thing is the all Tundras have the AIPs because of Kommiefornia requirements. Other states "might' pass laws or come up with regulations similar to Kali so ALL Tundras get AIPs. Thank you Kommiefornia!!!!:crapstorm:

After some issues on my 10, mostly caused by me, I got the 100k warranty. Ive seen the bypass but want to spend that $ on other stuff.

Bought a Transfer Flow 46g for my 10. They operate out of Cal, but cannot legally sell their products there. Makes 0 sense. I have family that live out there and ask when I am moving out there. Long after never.
