I had the front lower ball joints replaced about a year ago. 3 days ago I had the front end re-aligned. When I drove home I noticed a slight shimmy in the front end when I touched the brakes. When I drove back to the shop to have the re-alignment checked the following day, the front wheel on the driver side collapsed under the truck when I was driving 50 mph. Not a lot of damage done to the truck but the ball joints and CV axle are destroyed. Dealer wants 3,000 dollars to repair. Parts through parts house total 320.00 dollars, parts through the dealer are 1400.00 dollars. Why such a difference in price and what OEM parts brand would you use?

I've used Moog ball joints for the Tundra. I don't know about the CV, I'd lean toward OEM myself.

I have no idea, maybe someone else here has some experience with 'em. BTW, if you need to replace the tie rod ends, Coachbuilder has a cool kit. I'm not sure if they work on an '01. Dirty Deeds industries sells 'em.
