    Hi Everyone,

Just got hooked on cleaning my new tundra. Bought a foam cannon and pressure washer. I live in Vegas where the weather is very bipolar like the people that lives in it.

Get the truck out of direct sunlight. Re-pressure wash and use a two bucket method. Skip the foam cannon this time. If I’m forced to wash in direct sunlight I’ll do the truck in sections, stopping every few minutes to rinse the whole truck down to prevent water/soap spots. If needed, throw a little detailer wax on it when you’re done. It should be fine, looks worse than it is.

Yeah, work in sections and always rinse before moving to another section. I use two buckets like suggested and also wet the whole truck down anytime i finish an area.

Black requires a little more attention to detail.

Lastly, the new oxyclean car wash is pretty decent and reccomends using with a foam canon.

There are a few companies that make hand-held electric blowers specifically for detailing that would make it easy to dry without spots.

Thank you everyone for the input!! I will try it out. I waited till like 6-7pm to wash it but I didn’t think even little direct sunlight can affect this so much. I wish I could get the truck inside the garage but this dang truck is so big lol. I had issues with the two bucket method with the the microfiber mits, I was seeing the mini scratches and swirls. I did end up getting a small 4.0hp electric blow dryer to help but I guess it’s more of getting the car out of the direct sunlight.

I can see a haze like that on my truck if I didn't rinse it well enough. I first noticed when i used the pressure washer to rinse off the soap. Now I take and use the garden hose directly for rinse step.

I’m a huge Optimum no rinse fan. Haven’t done a bucket or pressure wash in years. Maybe give rinseless washes a try. I have black. No issues,no matter how dirty the truck is. Tons of videos on YouTube. And it’s very economical. No dragging hoses around and carrying buckets.

    X2. Solves everything.

Before I got the CR Spotless though, I had the same issue as you. I started taking my supplies to self serve car wash bays. Worked well for keeping the truck out of the sun while washing.

I have black as well and have to wash before the sun comes up. Otherwise it's by section and takes a lot longer. Gonna look at the Optimum no rinse though.

Even at 6pm the truck body will be holding heat from the day.
You'd do better washing early before the morning heat.
I wash the top & shady side first, then turn the truck so the other side is in the shade. Gives me a little more working time.

You guys are serious about washing your truck.

I wash it, use a little detail spray and I am good to go for the day till it rains again.

I am trying to get into it a little more but it is hard to know what is good or bad based on everyone using anything.

Most brands and products are good. There’s not a lot of stuff I’d call “bad”. There are some that excel though. Everyone has their favorites.

We can definitely recommend some stuff. How serious do you want to get, and what kind of budget? You don’t have to give an actual number, but a range. (50, 100, a bajillion, etc.)

Just to wash my truck I bought a 500.00 pressure washer so no budget at all.

I need a foam cannon which I am looking at the MATCC Foam Cannon. I thought about just buying all of the Adams products and going with that but then hear complaints about it.

I am looking at doing a color correction to my wifes Rav 4 when I research it a little more and buy what I need for that bu that wont be for a while.

I am one of these idiots that like taking a Sunday and washing my truck inside and out but with the over load of information it is hard to figure out what is good and what is snake oil

I'm one of those idiots too. I've read very good reviews about the MATCC foam cannon, as well as the MaxShine foam cannon....neither one will hit you very hard in the wallet. Adams products, like a lot of others, can be a bit pricey. You can't go wrong with Meguiars Gold Class shampoo....priced right, locally available, washes well, foams good, rinses clean.

As far as detailing products, very few are 'bad'.....as for the rest, they're good, but like beer, sex, and chocolate, there are varying degrees of good.

    Great advise in here.

Only thing different, get help. My buddy and I wash ours at the same time. I wash and he rinses mine. I rinse and he washes his. When hot out it's easier to keep the trucks wet with another person running the hose as these things have a lot of surface area. Other wise do as others have said, in sections with lots of rinsing.

If that’s the case, @briarpatch and I have listed our personal favorites here:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/show-me-your-kits-for-detailing.27260/

There’s a ton of info on this forum, but unfortunately it’s scattered all around. We’re discussing consolidating as much info as possible in one place. Feel free to ask about anything particular, and we will help in any way we can.

Like with any brand, there’s people who love Adams, and people who don’t. I personally haven’t tried a ton of their products.

Need someone to put together a sample box of a bunch of stuff from different vendors for use.

Or buy one from each company I guess.

I’d also suggest Optimum no-rinse. Do one section at a time from the top down and dry immediately. Spray some Optimum spray wax on the wet surface to aid drying and add shine. Optimum is only one brand you could try, there are many other rinseless washes and spray waxes.
