Please DO NOT post anything political in this thread. Or maybe don't post at all, maybe a mod can lock and sticky this to the front page.

    Anyway...
If you have or know anyone who has access to a stock of face masks -N95 is best but any kind will do- , PLEASE DONATE THEM TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL. Hospitals are in a bad way right now trying to protect their staff from contracting this virus. If a nurse or doctor gets this virus they will not be able to take care of you mom when she has a stroke or dad when he has a heart attack, your kid who needs his appendix removed, or you when you break your leg. When a healthcare worker gets this they will be out of work for 2 weeks on quarantine, and there aren't replacements, replacements are already working.
We do not have and have almost no access to the proper personal protective equipment. Re-using masks, wiping down disposable gowns and hang to dry to use again, wiping off face shields that aren't even normally allowed in hospitals.

SO PLEASE IF YOU HAVE MASKS OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO MIGHT PLEASE DONATE WHAT YOU CAN.

I can’t emphasize what Sean is saying enough. I have immediate family members working on the front lines at the hospital in Kirkland, Wa. As of yesterday, they only have a 3 day supply masks. I’m a contractor and donated the 4 boxes I have. Anything helps at this point. The shortage of supplies is real. If you know a healthcare worker, thank them, they are the heros in this, working through intense fear, anxiety and working very long hours.

Been an ER nurse for 15 years and have never seen anything like this. We need masks, we will run out in a few days and then what? We are being told if we run out we will not be allowed any contact with anyone with suspected 19, this means we will be in combat triage mode, which means patients will not get treated because we can't risk resources on them. So please donate your masks!!!

This is very important, especially for the in the medical field. I have many friends who work in the medical profession in and around Boston. They too are on the front lines. In the coming weeks this is only going to get worse. It's in all 50 states now. I can't get them for my job but it's not as critical. We need to help each other out.. Good post. Be safe everyone..

Cops too. Fight with a bad guy one minute, share sweat, blood, and spit... then go to check the welfare of an oldster that fell in a senior living center 15 minutes later... without PPE.

And medics too. We don’t these front line hospital, clinic, medical, and emergency response workers going down. I agree, we need to do all we can to get supplies where they’re most needed.

Yes, please do this!!!!!! The whole country is out of masks and gowns and we are not getting any soon. Like pudge said people at my hospital are re-using masks and we are starting too use cloth gowns in the OR. Hospitals are limiting surgeries not just because of the virus but because they only have so many supplies and they have to prioritize.

And as my wife pointed out, all those people working at the super markets that bag your groceries, stock the shelves, in general keep things going so you can have food.. We make a point of thanking these people. Everyone still has to make a living..

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
I’m not sure how anyone else has tried to find these N95 masks, but they are not available in NorCal,
I used up all and any resources to find them.
    Where I’ve tried;
    Home Depot checked 3 sites.
    Lowes 1 site.
Any Mom & POP hardware store.
Any paint supply stores, home/Automotive sources.
    Grainger.
    Mc Master Carr.
Amazon, found 1 pack of 10 for $200.00 no didn’t buy them.
My last resort is using my body shop/ painters mask for particulate/ chemicals.

I would agree First Respondents, and all Medical should have them first.
I’ve been told at each place I’ve checked out, it may be a while.
My hope is no one gets sick
    Best of luck to all

Crazy times....before this Covid scare, we would use N95s for our PPE and were going through them like water without issue or thought.

Things are changing so quickly right now.

Hopefully civilians will soon be restricted buying them so they can be put to use by all front line members who actually NEED them. For everyone else not in those fields, just stay home and avoid group settings. If we do that, we won't need them outside of work. The masks and PPE should be reserved for members who have stepped up and chosen to work in the fields that are helping to battle this virus.

I do fill for all of you guys in the medical field. And are first responders. I Am in HVAC a Service tech so I’m in and out of peoples houses all day we can’t find mask either so it’s very nice for your cousin to be able to come up with two boxes and give them up for you that was a great gesture you all need them more than we do. I do wear rubber gloves we have found them at least and we have boot covers but we can’t find much else around here in Kentucky. It’s a bad situation for everybody guys. But there’s no reason for me to be complaining and I’m not. Your medical guys are our heroes. Keep up the great work.

This was great of them, might be more widespread and I just don't know. More company's should do it, if they haven't yet.
