Guys please help. I popped off about changing the oil in our 2013 Tundra. I cant find the dang drain plug, and I have 3 people mocking me (mercilessly) MIL, FIL,and hubs. Everyone is hi-tense about school, and I'm about to pop. Please help me change the mother-loving oil in this truck tonight. I need a break from them. Under the truck is quiet.

Oil drain is on the passenger side directly across from the passenger side lower control arm. I have a fumoto drain valve on mine.

Were you able to get it done? Be sure to loosen silver plug first, push plastic plug up inside to drain filter cap, then remove cap ,filter is inside. Be sure to look very close to large o-ring location, and replace the same. Also be sure to get o-ring back in silver plug and tighten snug. Without the drain valve you are gonna get an arm full of oil when you push the plastic plug up inside to drain the cap, be sure your oil filter wrench has slots to fit the housing.

TY. I did not get it done tonight. Too many cooks in the kitchen. I will tackle this at sunrise, when I'm the only one awake. I suspect it will be much easier then.
Thank you for your description of the parts, it will come in handy in th AM.

To piggyback on this thread... does anyone make an aftermarket (decent) skid plate with a hole in it for the damn filter? Changing the oil in my Tacoma took 10 minutes. It takes me double that just to get the damn skid plate off....

Easy cut out , if your not into heavy offroading you can cut a hole in platewith grinder. Works great. The skid plate is pretty easy, just remove the front 2 bolts and it will hang there , then remove each bolt on sides, then go to middle bolt and let down , now go to front and unhook it. This hole is only about 4x4inch .IMG-1001.jpg IMG-1001.jpg

It's not a skid plate. Basically a dust cover or a hard cheese plate..

i agree 100%. i prefer the term "slash guard" over "hard cheese plate".

don't want to invite the wrong kind-a crowd to my party... although "splash guard" may "excite" the same type of crowd that would attend a "hard cheese plate" party...

    that's a thinker... :monocle:
