    Hey Tundra peeps..

Picked up my first Tundra and loving it. Kind of got there through some twists of fate but now that I’m in a Tundra I’m not sure I’ll ever look at another brand again. I’m coming from a 14 F-150 4x4 into a 17 SR5 CrewMax 2wd and enjoying it. I don’t have much need for 4x4 so it’s nice not having that extra stuff sucking up power lol. I’ll eventually throw in a proper diff eventually though. Plan on driving the wheels off this thing lol. Anyways, glad to be here and looking forward to learning.

First question: Is there anything like Forscan for the Toyotas?

Welcome from WA. There's nothing as cool as Forscan that I've found yet. There is an app that can be used to toggle a few settings. I forget the name, but I'll tag @RainMan_PNW to see if he can chime in. But from what I've seen, it's not as useful as Forscan.

Welcome from the wet side of WA (a few hours south of @Green Thunder )
No idea what Forscan is - sounds like something that is probably not appropriate in a welcome thread.

Techstream is the software that the Toyota techs use to connect to the ODB port and program/work on these trucks. It is used to read / report / diagnose codes, is used to initiate certain processes (brake bleed, transmission service, etc.). And it is used for some customizations. There are limits to what you can do - no fuel-air mixes, or speedometer calibrations, or anything that actually messes with ECU programming. It CAN be used to program immobilizer chips in new keys, and program keyless remotes as well.

As for basic customization features, your user manual has a section in the back (Section 8 I think) that has a sub-section in it with a list of all the features that can be customized, and whether you do it with the HUD (heads up display), the Head Unit/stereo, or “dealer only” <— that last column is the stuff you can do with Techstream.

There are knock-off cables for sale a variety of places (Amazon included) that include a hacked version of Techstream that you can use to get in mess with stuff. The newer versions of Techstream require a firmware 2.x cable, while older versions work with the more common v1.4 firmware cable (the knock-off cables cannot be updated). I have an older cable and an older version of Techstream - while it won’t actually recognize my truck automatically (too new), it will still access all the features I’ve looked at so far. The first one I always set is turning off the seatbelt chime.

There are also some other ODB2 tools out there that people mention on here that will do similar things - I don’t remember the names off the bat because I’ve got something that works.

Thanks @RainMan_PNW. Techstream is what I was thinking about. No where near as good as Forscan (for Fords), but better than nothing.
