Been looking at tundras and sequoias and been waffling between them. Then we just bought a fixer up house up in Puget Sound area and realized I need a TRUCK to do a remodel. That's my rationalization... and I'm sticking to it. ;^)

So I just bought a 2016 5.7L with *lots* of highway miles (PO basically commuted to Idaho) but he did all the mods correctly eg. Bilstein front and rear, factory remote start, etc. However I need to fix a few things. The tires on the truck are studded and it came with an extra set of TRD wheels and some 30% remaining BFG tires without TPMS sensor. First step is to figure out which sensors I need... and I hit a few threads but still confused. Anybody know if aftermarket sensors work or should I just fork over the money to the dealer?

Once address the TPMS issue, I need to unbend the front of the bed from the truck cab... but found good thread on that already.

    Thanks,
    Ron

When I had mine done 2 of the 4 aftermarket would not program. Got OEM and they worked fine.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! OEM will save you trouble. These things seem to be very finicky.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! :) I guess I'm taking the longer path. I just ordered 4 of the Autel MX sensors that are cloneable and an Autel programmer. I like the idea that I can clone the existing IDs of the current wheels and never have to mess with programming the Tundra's ECU.

Now I fully admit this plan could fail like a cheap coleman tent in a windstorm, but I'll report back on outcome. Hopefully I won't make the local news. ;^)

Are you even allowed to buy a internal combustion engine in the PNW without the trust fund “protestors” leaving their highway shoulder tent communities and giving you grief over not having a Prius covered with stickers that’s never been washed because it’s bad for the environment….

Just an update. I purchased the Autel TS408 below:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VZFHJ6H?ie=UTF8

and 4 of the Autel MX universal sensors:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075SBSV5Y?ie=UTF8&th=1

I used the TS408 to get the IDs of all sensors in all 4 corners and the programed and labeled the sensor. The cool thing about the sensor, when programming I didn't even need to pull them from their boxes and just wrote LF, RF, RR & LR on the boxes. Dropped the tires, wheels and sensors off a the tire shop and they did the install.

With the new tires and the MX sensors in the same corner of truck, the TPMS was unaware of any changes and it just worked.

I love it when a plan comes together. ... with no drama.

Oh, forgot the cost. The tire shop wanted $60 a corner for sensors and programming. I'm out $144 for the TS408 and $128 for all the sensors. So $272 vs $240 but I got a cool tool of the deal.

I've already had friends borrow it to check for sensor when buying used set of tires/wheels. One of the CL ads said a set of tires came with sensors... but that was not "accurate". ;^)
