    Hey Everyone!

Just created an account over here after being a member of Tacoma World for the past 3 years. I have a 2017 Tacoma DCLB and we love to camp, but now with 2 daughters (3yo and 5yo), a dog, and my wife who wants us to get a travel trailer, I’m starting to think it’s time to step up to a big boy truck. This seemed like the obvious place to start my research.

Anyways, thanks for having me and in advance for all of the help I’m sure you all will give me!

    Welcome from Santa Cruz!

I have 3 daughters (under the age of 6) and a lab. I also made the transition from a Tacoma last year, you will not regret making the step up. The room is totally worth it, kids are no longer sticking their knees into my back on those long drives.

Happy to answer any questions you may have based on my experience so far.

    cheers!

Oh yeah, with one in a car seat and one in a booster, plus the mountain of road trip accessories we take, the double cab starts to feel quite “cozy”.

I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy with the fires down your way. Definitely some crazy times. Santa Cruz is a special place and one of my favorite mountain bike destinations.

Word. The Taco is lacking a bit in both those areas. But it does try to make up for it with enthusiasm.

i came from a Tacoma as well. It does have its upside and I loved it, but I’d never go back after owning a tundra

Ha! Nice. I actually just got into my home town up in Humboldt Co to hide out for a couple weeks with the fam. Definitely loving the beach.

It still feels a bit like summer here with the crowds at our local beach. I'd rather be walking Humboldt Co. beaches than ours this time of the year.

Nice! I agree, I have family right down the way in Lock Haven. Spent many weekends in and around that area. Just a little further north and you hit no cell service. My go to place to escape!

    Welcome from OC so cal!
I have three grown boys (21, 18, 14). Just returned from a trip to Utah (Zion canyons). Between my wife and I, all of our gear/ luggage and my boys it was a nice comfortable 8-9 hour drive one way with AC on full blast.
Tundra is the perfect family hauler in my opinion.

Great feedback, thank you! It sure seems like the Crewmax is tough to beat as a family hauling adventure mobile. I just wish the payload capacity was a little higher. 1200ish lbs still seems a little low when you start adding everything up. My Taco is 950lbs, and I was hoping to be closer to 1500lbs.
