Heat setting foot, deforest etc.

When I go from one heat or cool setting like deforest etc. Is makes a buzzing noise. Does anyone have any suggestions Thanks

That deforest buzzing might be the sound of chain saws in the distance?

The word deforest is suppose to be defrost. Ha Ha Ha

Is the buzzing persistant, or does it just buzz for a short time and stop? It could be some of the internal workings for vent redirection have something interfering with their movement. I had an old dodge that the seal for a vent failed (glue wore out) and it made it make funny noised until the seal finally dropped into the blower motor. Then I popped the blower motor off and got the seal out.

My guess would be an obstruction or perhaps a failing motor that redirects the vents. I do not envy you, as I hate/refuse to take dashes apart.

 

Any issues on cabin air filter changes? Rats’ nests, etc?

 

Does it feel like everything is still functioning properly? Is it still diverting to your feet or defrost properly? Most likely it’s coming from one of the actuators in the dash. Try tracking it down with the engine off but the key in the on position and stick your head in the foot well to see if you can pinpoint it. Check the passenger side as well while diverting the doors. You can also open the glove box and take the filter out. One to check for obstructions and 2 You can see one of the blend doors moving inside there.

 

I vote blend doors as well. Mine does this. Pretty normal. When you turn off the truck it should make the noise like 6-8 seconds after the truck power stops. If it’s the same noise then it’s normal.

 

Yup mine does it as well. I would not worry about it.

That's what I thought. Made this noise whenever I turned it to floor vents. Has done this for 6 months. Last week, no air flow to both sides of the front. Dealer says obstruction and $1700 to rip the dash apart, $900 more if the unit needs to be replaced. Obstruction?? They said maybe an acorn or something crawled in there and left something. Umm...the sound was happening for 6 months prior to it not working, and this is a daily driver, not something that goes more than 1 day without driving. After hearing that I test drove a 2500HD yesterday.
