Here is a nice creek bed I decided not get my 5 month old Tacoma in. A Jeep with a winch pulled me out backwards. :bananadead: ok, going to stop now, before the rest of the forum starts thinking I'm a reckless idiot. Lol

20200118_182155.jpg I need a winch and a bumper! It would be really cool to cross off one of those off of the list without it hitting the credit card statements. My build is a slow build...this would help speed things up a bit!

Winch would be helpful in getting me off of the mountain when the snow storms hit during elk season.

77 year old and so far never had or needed a winch, on the other hand, with what truck I've owned, two or four wheel drive, I've pulled a lot of other people out of bad situations, sometimes smoking all four tires in the 1978 Bronco we used to own. I've pulled a Trans-Am out of a deep ditch, a GMC pickup out of a snow bank when we lived in Colorado, a friends pickup that slid into a ditch in deep snow and my sons Geo from over the side of the road when he backed up to look at a grouse in a tree and didn't realize that there was no shoulder, he and a girl he was friends with came walking up to our home, white as sheets, he had a dried strip of blood across his forehead, anyway I took my 1989 F-250 out and pulled him back up on the road with a chain. I have known that a four by four can get people stuck far worse due to peoples belief that they can go anywhere, I have probably been overly cautious over the years, not to get myself in a bad situation and I've probably missed some interesting places because of that, so if I had a winch I might just go to some nasty places just to see the other side and I'd certainly have a greater advantage to be able to help others in distressful situations. Over the years my wife and I have been to places in Colorado and here in southern Oregon where you might not see anyone for weeks and if we were stuck and couldn't get out because of not having a winch, the situation could be deadly, I would be happy as a pig in mud to own this winch.

My son, Crockett, was just pointing out the empty winch hole in the front bumper this weekend while we changed the front CV axle. He was initially supervising the install until I did something wrong, so he pushed me aside, grabbed his tools and got dirty. After he completed the install, he proceeded to point to winch bumper without a winch saying he will install it for me.

Thanks for the opportunity HeadStrong Off-Road!

Now.....why should I win and be the recipient of this fine piece of mechanical and electrical engineering you may ask? Over the years I’ve developed a “reputation” of sorts as the friend who’s prepared for everything, and willing to drop everything to help out where I can. I’ve got tow straps and shackles a’plenty! I’ve got road flares and emergency rations galore! Need a fire extinguisher? I’ve got one! But who cares, no big deal...............I still need a winch!!!

I’m the guy my friends will call when they’ve slid their car 6ft down a ditch into a snowbank in -20F weather, and they need to get unstuck. Guess who ends up in the deep snow trying to find a place for the stinking tow strap...this guy :) I do my best to go out of my way to help people in situations that I can easily rectify if I’m prepared. Why not help someone who’s having their worst day at that moment? Need a jump, I’ve got you. Need a bandaid, I’ve got you. Need a tow....I’ve got you, but what if you’re more than just a “little stuck” and that tow strap just ain’t cutting it? That’s where this winch would really shine and help me to help others. That’s what America is and should be all about, let’s help each other out in this time.

P.S...If anyone needs an emergency ration of TP....feel free to hit me up!
    :oldglory::oldglory::oldglory: ‘Merica!!!!!!

I'd like a winch to go with lift/tire setup I'm planning on adding in the next year or so, depending on how long we are "distancing". Would love to get out and get the truck really dirty and stuck. Well, not too stuck...

To the generous individuals at HeadStrong Off-Road,

I do not live in rural country, I live in a major city.
    I do not have 4WD, I have a lowly 2WD.
I do not have A/T tires, I have stock Michelins.
I do not have a lift, an LED lightbar, a bullbar, spotlights, or metal testicles hanging off the rear bumper of my truck.
But what I do have are REAL testicles. Testicles that make me believe that I can do everything that Tundra owners in rural country can do; Tundra owners equipped with 4WD can do; Tundra owners with A/T tires can do; Tundra owners with lifts and LED lightbars and bullbars and spotlights can do.

And when I attempt to do what my real testicles make me think I can do, your winch would really come in handy for pulling me out of the sh*t I got myself into.

    Here is my contest entry:

    Mountun Goat. @mountungoat on Instagram.

It’s a 2008 Doublecab 4x4 5.7L Limited Tundra. My Dad bought the truck new, then gave it to me 10 years later with 470,000km on the odometer. So, you can understand why it has sentimental meaning to me. While owning it, my Dad installed an Arb Sahara bumper after hitting a deer (handy for me later in life;)).

I’ve had the truck since 2018. With the end goal of a reliable, family off-road trip and downhill bike trail building unit- many mods were needed. Since then, I’ve hand built many components and am currently building a bed/roof rack for the full size spare 37” wheel. I had to install an Arb OME suspension lift to accommodate the 37’s. For the front coil spring rate, I went for the heaviest one as it‘s weight rated for the Arb Sahara bumper with a winch installed in it.

In the current state, the truck rides like a wagon as I don’t have a winch installed. As a result of this, my wife seems to hate poor Mountun Goat :(. Because she hates it, my truck funds are cut off. A winch cost money, which I don’t get to have............

I’m sure you understand my dilemma :annoyed::p:D

Only a few things keep me from finishing project Mountun Goat.
    1. Exterior will be wrapped in Toyota Tundra Quicksand bedliner. Luckily material is already in the shop waiting for spring 2020 :D
    2. A winch. A seriously badass winch. This is a must for a family off-road trip. A winch is a must to take any fun risk’s without a second vehicle with my family aboard.

Please pick Mountun Goat to sport your winch with excellent style ;)

You will make me the happiest guy on earth, because I’ll be able to provide a smooth, dependable off-road ride for my family. :)

Anyway, thanks again for putting this on. :hattip:

Because when you hang out with fords chevys dodges shit breaks. I am not saying that my tundra dont break because it dose so far has been drive shafts but think that it fixed.( some improper pinion angles) some one needs to go rescue the brother and family stuck in a snow drift. Or drag the guy out of the dunes who now only has 3 wheels. Or just to get mine back in the trailer. I am that guy that everyone calls when the are broken. Or the guy who finds people who are broken just by luck. I have bullied out at least 5 people in the last year just on my way to or from work. We have a major flood problem the the joshua tree area when it rains. Plus king of the hammers is my back yard. I could use a winch.IMG_0468.jpg Resized_20190624_193158(1).jpg Resized_20190624_193252.jpg IMG_0233.jpg

So it turns out that I really really want this winch!!! So to prove I'm just an all around nice guy deserving of winning I helped an old lady cross the street, no thought of myself just a completely selfless act of kindness. I mean if that doesn't scream pick me you have no heart. So pick me you will feel good about yourself!!!
