    hopefully someone can figure this out.......2004 4.7 4Door 4WD 100k
only has happened when its below freezing, the motor will start sort of.......
its all over the place as though it has slipped a tooth on the timing belt or something with timing, its like a wet distributer cap firing randomly, the belt has been replaced about 15k ago with no problems, after about 5 seconds it will catch and smooth out, except yesterday....it was about 25 deg outside and it happened and after about 5 seconds it hadn't stopped yet I shut if off, repeated 3 times before it finally smoothed out, any ideas" any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thank You

No check engine light? Could it be a misfire?

its only a couple years old, here comes the question, it turns over and starts fine usually, how could the battery be doing this? yes the battery is affected by the cold but starter sounds normal

"Belt has been replaced about 15k ago".

    Timing belt or serpentine belt?

If timing belt, you need to carefully inspect your crank position wire to make sure it was properly secured and has no nicks in he the wire/harness loom. This is a common f-up professional and shadetree mechanics make, and it results in this: https://www.tundras.com/threads/the-professional-hand-model-reinvestment-‘build’-a-chronological-story.46816/page-7#post-1885894

The crank position is required for the fuel circuit (crank position sensor informs the ECU 'engine is running' so ECU activates power to the pump). That sensor is using shielded wire, which means it'll probably be sensitive to nicks, cuts, splices and would start to crap out before a full failure. It could cause the exact symptoms you mention, and failure to deliver fuel would make your truck run like ass.

I actually posted a note about that over here, search the page for "nick" and you'll find it. https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/
