I was in a hurry to get to my son's soccer game and a lady had parked her mini van overhanging my driveway. I checked that mirror (to make sure I cleared the garage door) but I must have glossed over her car in the background.

Thoughts on a repair? The bumper is pushed in, the tailgate gap is all wrong, obviously the body is dented and the paint popped badly.

I *used* to have about the cleanest 2012 on the road; I'm not super happy this evening.

I'd imagine the bumper is toast. Are our bed sides removable? I'm curious if the body shop would paint up a rock warrior bumper instead of a chrome replacement. I'm also concerned about cheap aftermarket parts that rust in a couple of years.

Sorry to see this that sucks. Was there filler in the bedside already? The paint looks really thick.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how the insurance company works it out. We have the same company so they will probably declare no fault and make us both pay deductibles.

I would have called the cops to ticket the driveway blocker. Otherwise they would keep doing it again. Because someone illegally parked, you still have a duty to not damage their car so I wouldn't be surprised if the claims came out of your policy and decalfed you at fault.

Holy crap, some people are stupid. I don't feel sorry for them at all. They should have to pay to fix your truck. I bet this is also a person that doesn't give a shit and parks on the lines at the store when they pull into a spot. Good luck op

I have been in two minor accidents where both parties had the same insurance company. The first the other party did not even report it and I found out they were on high risk policy. No deductible for me as I wrote up my own report that was more detailed than any police report. I paid nothing. The second time it was clear the the insurance company only cared about paying out as little as possible..I paid the deductible, aftermarket parts, etc. Ugh. Good luck.

I agree with you, I think I will probably be at fault as the moving vehicle. Frankly, I'm so grateful it was an empty parked car and not a kid. Obviously, I missed it and this could have been horrible. It was a sobering experience for that reason. The damage to the truck is trivial in that light.

I had a neighbor who asked me if it was OK to park in front of my house... I answered its a free country park where ever you want, just don't block my driveway, or I'll have your car towed. So it was a mutual thing... Where I live now, the I have constant issues with the neighbors kids parking in front of both my driveways. I've asked them to stop, but at some point, I just got tired, and just started calling the tow truck which usually followed by them knocking on my door and asking why I didn't ask them, after a year, I shouldn't be asking anymore.... needless to say they stopped doing it, they block their parents driveway now, which I'm good with...

Suck! Sorry, man. On the bright side, you can probably justify a good-looking offroad bumper now.

My no insurance out of pocket fix for a 2019 with similar damage was quoted at $750 at a nice body paint shop I’ve used before. Oem parts. Since it happened off roading and would probably eventually happen again with the low departure angle on these trucks and how I use it I opted for a high clearance rear bumper for $1k. I left the little dent and a couple scratches it left me with. I don’t have the “cleanest” 2019 on the road LOL 46B77F9E-55E8-4D0E-AF77-E302450E529E.jpg 840E404C-B341-44E3-B5A7-81C5F1C4C919.jpg

    Little update on this.

The body shop quoted $1,900. They are going to replace the bumper, a few brackets, and my trd decal after smoothing the bed side back into shape and paint. The quote included oem parts with a reconditioned OEM bumper. My insurance is trying to come back with with a counter-offer and aftermarket parts.

The guy was cool and said he usually can get his oem suppliers to price match aftermarket prices after the insurance plays the cheap card.

I'm going to talk to them when I drop it off about ordering a rock warrior bumper instead of chrome and spraying it barcelona red.

Shop wants $300 to paint a rock warrior bumper. No difference in part cost and my insurance has already paid the claim.

I was already on the fence so ill probably just take the reman chrome bumper and move on with life.

    7am Monday morning.

You were right, body tech said there was filler in that spot. Best he can tell, this truck has had similar damage in the same spot.

It sucks people can't just be honest. That's why they say you can't fully trust a Carfax. My brother used to do paint for years so I have seen alot over the years.

These are the two spots they had to work with.

The bedrail area primer is to fix scratches from my snugtop.

I'm a little worried about the repair above the wheel. The bedside actually buckled slightly from the impact and it tweaked the "flair" inwards. My concern is rust. In Utah, rust is usually not a big issue for vehicles that are cared for, except on body repairs.
