As the title implies, have you ever had a vehicle you wouldn't take to the supermarket or a shady part of town, or a vehicle you wouldn't drive if there was so much as a cloud in the sky? What was it? What's the story?

    Post a picture!

1968 Mercedes 280SL convertible for me. It was black, and nearly perfect. I bitterly regret not enjoying like I should have, although I was pulled over for going XXX mph to a wedding that I was late for... had to go to the station for that one. I will have to scan a photo.

Almost every new vehicle I’ve bought until it has a few thousand miles on it or it gets its first scratch or dent.

I don't take my Tundra out of the garage much. :anonymous: I don't like the crap from our cooling tower at work getting on it, I've been door dinged on other vehicles at work as well, so I rarely drive it there. It doesn't go to Walmart. Don't take it offroad really either. I know I can't directly replace it with another just like it so I'm like an over protective parent. I haven't been this bad on any other vehicle.

I've had some other vehicles that I was afraid to drive but that was because they were literally falling apart and had sketchy steering and brakes.

68’ Valiant. Rusted floor boards. Could see road if you lifted the floor mats up. All doors were prone to swinging open on turns so you had to make sure you were holding on or not leaning against the door going into the g’s.

Needless to say, the hand was always near the grab bar regardless of where you sat.

I had a '94 Nissan 240sx convertible that looked great from about 20 ft. away. Lol

My Dodge trucks. Great when running, but that rarely happened longer than a few months.

    048DC633-7E8D-45AD-9A72-147A79CDC60B.jpg

This picture tells a funny story. My truck broke down or needed repair so much, that I would have it towed to Denver with a flatbed. Then, when it was running again, I would tow my flatbed up with my wife’s Tacoma. My love didn’t want nothing to do with that truck, so this was the only way I could get it with two vehicles.

Nothing where I was worried about something happening to it.

I had a '57 Chevy PU with a lot of HP but, stock suspension, that didn't like to stop. I WAS afraid to drive that one at times.

I take great care of everything I have so I wouldn't know where to start. I have a 2001 Ram Air TA That has 13,000 sunny miles on it never once has it been in the rain. I have a 1986 K10 Chevy pickup that hasn't been in the rain since it had a frame off restoration in 1998.[IMG] [IMG]

Never afraid to drive one due of fear of damaging it. I buy vehicles to use them.

But...I did have an old Ford that had a bad case of death wobble. I was really young at the time and didn't know what was causing it. That truck scared the bejeebus out of me for a while until I was able to fix it.

2001 B5 S4 Audi with the 6 speed AWD 30V twin turbo V6. Every 2 weeks something went wrong from the aftermarket power but I loved that car when it ran problem free. I've considered buying another a few times then I remember why I sold it.

No, I’ve never owned something I was afraid to drive. Even the shitbox vehicles I used to own and drive were maintained and repaired to a decent standard of safety and reliability.

Company vehicle though... I’ve driven some sketchy mechanic service trucks. :eek2: Lately, I’ve also been know to refuse to drive them until _____ is fixed. And guess what? _____ gets fixed pretty quick when I do.

That's no joke. Some companies have 0 maintenance standards. I've finally got my boss to come around after I lost a wheel on a tandem axle trailer at highway speeds.

I have always been curious, is it 5ho, or Sho. I always assumed they were 5.0 liters, but I might be wrong. Guess I could google it.

Brand new Crown Victoria, '95 I think.
The transmission would downshift whenever it wanted, it created some scary situations.
Ford dealers couldn't figure it out.

I traded it before putting 5k on it.

I actually have some self inflicted damage on mine as well. Pisses me off every time I look at it. Need to get it fixed but I don't have any real good body shops nearby and shoddy work or mismatched paint would send my OCD into overdrive.

Damn, don't want that to happen. Maybe I'll overcome my fears and take it for a spin tomorrow. :burnrubber: Even though it spends a lot of time just sitting in the garage, it somehow has racked up 19k miles in 1.5 years.

No, I have and will never own a vehicle that I am afraid to drive because it might get scratched, dented, wet, etc. That would be like marrying a super model, and being afraid to consummate the marriage.
