I have a Tundra with a short bed, and I have to haul many wooden fence sections, which are about 50-75 lbs per section. If I put a stack of them, say 5-6 of them, with one side of the fence section against the wheel well inside the bed, and the other side of the fence overhanging over the bed (because it's too wide for the bed), how much weight do you think the side wall of the bed can take? What do you think would actually damage the side of the bed walls?

I know this would be easier with a 5'x8' utility trailer, but just bought the Tundra two weeks ago, so still shopping for trailers.

    Thanks,
    John Henry

Probably not a good idea IMO. I would stand them up in the bed and use ratchet straps to hold them in place. Or pay the delivery fee so you don't bang up your new truck.
Ps; congrats on the new truck

You can also build a rack with a few 2x4s to make standing them up easier.

Thanks for the replies! Much appreciated.

Will not be doing this again.. will use the 2x4's or buying a utility trailer very soon.

That being said, it would be great to if I could find out some sort of technical strength of the bed side walls. I could not find any of this information beyond bed payload capacity.
