So in my F150, it automatically downloaded my phone book and had automatic voice recognition. Do I really have to program the phone book one entry at a time? Same with the voice commands?

Not for an iPhone, no. It automatically added it.

Did it do it automatically for you? I've got an iphone and it still just shows numbers but no names.

Wait hold on, you've got a 2014. I think the 3rd gen might be a little smarter.

Did it automatically DL the phone book from your phone or did you have to tell it to download?

Also, with voice command dialing, same question, was it automatic or did you have to program?

For the phone book, you need to allow access

I'll try but when I get or make a call it shows the connection as "Car Multi-Media" and there's no options there to sync contacts.

Maybe I need to re-sync first as a phone then as a multi-media player. I may have done that in reverse order the first time.

I don't have a touchscreen on my Tundra, don't know if that makes a difference since it displays the incoming # on the radio display.

I messed with it for probably an hour between last night and this morning. All I get is 'Car Multi-Media'. The phone book set up is completely seperate from the phone pairing. It must be a 2012+ thing.

Found some info on TundraTalk. Seems that it is only possible to mass import if I/you have the Nav system. I'll have to input or transfer them one at a time.

    Lame.

    I didn't have nav on my 2012
Remove it as a device and re-sync

I tried that several times already. Keeps syncing the same way each time. I'll check on some Youtube videos later.

Not sure what set up you had, maybe I have older software. Here's the instructions on youtube.

I'll give it one more go, will update you in an hour or two.

Edit: The issue I am having is that when I go to set up as phone, it asks if I want to use the internal bluetooth audio, and then it syncs first as a multimedia device, then tries to sync as a phone but can't do it because it's already synced. Very frustrating.

Update: Tried again but this time did a factory reset on the radio, same result. I proceeded to enter a phonebook entry, wasn't able to transfer any by bluetooth, had to do manual entry and it didn't even give me an option of putting a name, only a voice command for the entry.

That's odd..I never had that issue.. wish I was there to help and try to figure it out for you...just hard to do over a forum vs hands on.

@csuviper can you assist as I believe you have this same setup?

I most appreciate the help. From what I've seen on YouTube there seems to have been some sort of software update. All the videos I saw for 2011 or older were exactly the same as mine.

I did have a 2016 Tundra when mine was in the shop a few months ago and it performed just as you described and downloaded the phonebook automatically. Must be a 07-11 thing.

Oh, one more thing. The hands free works just fine, no issues with talking or listening to media or otherwise. It's just the darn phonebook I was trying to figure out.

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
I never transferred phone book over. Just use the phone then connect to Bluetooth. If someone calls it just shows up as a number on the radio. I didn't put much effort forth to try.

Watching this for any further updates. I too would love to have the actual name and such show up on my stereo but am experiencing the same challenge with my 2011.

Can you confirm the steps you took and that yours is NOT a touchscreen?
