What a great truck! I drove a 2.5 gen a few years ago and fell in love with it, settling for a Tacoma thinking it would suffice. While I loved the Tacoma very much, I decided to make the switch and started test driving the new model Tundra. That month they announced the engine recall, and I was instantly spooked. Nice truck, but way too much for my budget, add to that the engine problems and I was then looking at used 2.5 gens in my local area. I found my new truck in Reno and jumped on it; a low miles 4x4 DC SR5, with a few tasty mods from the PO installed (bumper, trans cooler, front grill, and bed lining). A nice humble truck!

Changed the tires to something new - Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT in stock size. Love the tire so far!

Then added a Softopper for camping and general bed storage convenience. Love them, had one on my Tacoma and they are great!

I tried some Amazon running boards but found them too low, if that makes sense. Found a different style that raised them up to just below the doors, and found that to be more to my liking.

Installed an aftermarket replica TRD shift knob. Feels much better in the hand, such a simple upgrade but I like the look and feel much much better than the stock piece.

Trying the leather Loncky steering wheel cover from Jeff Bezos. Install was rather fun, if not a little time consuming. But it totally transforms the steering wheel.

Also added my favorite brand of phone holder - proclip

I’ve used them for years and like having the phone right there for convenience and charging

Added a Velcro tool holder and those Seat Jackers from Desert Does It. A little spendy for the metal blocks, but it is what it is and I like to support local business - even if I shop way too much at Amazon these days! Anyway, the seats fit better - especially the passenger seat. I have the electric seat on the driver side, but these metal blocks raise it up enough for more adjustment on my legs. Not as dire a change as it was in the Tacoma, but I like the feel.

Trying the darker TRD stickers. PO had removed the silver ones and the badges but I do like the darker ones against the MGM paint!

My son and I installed a pair of Bilstein 5100s on the front to level things out. Still using the OEM 4600’s on the rear, not sure what I’m going to do there just yet. So far so good, although the ride is definitely firmer.

Also trying out some OEM hub caps, and while i think this helps the steel wheels look better, I’m leaning on a new set of wheels soon.

Welp, I decided to spend the big bucks and upgrade the wheels. I thought I could live with and perhaps enjoy the steel wheels, but over time they just weren’t for me. After much research, I decided to go for it and purchased a new set of Vision Nemesis wheels from Americas Tire.

Killer looking truck! Double Cabs are the best (I'm of course biased).

Been looking on FB marketplace for quite some time to score a deal on a used TRD exhaust. Finally one popped up, and 30 min drive later I had it in my truck! Installed earlier this week after ordering the right side hanger piece online. Sounds fantastic! I do notice the helicopter drone that others talk about, but it’s manageable thus far. Gas mileage dropped as I now enjoy the sounds of acceleration so much more! Good times

Took a couple cool pics at my local fairgrounds the other day. Truck has come along nicely if I don’t say so myself!!! What a great truck its been, and I’m looking forward to many more years to come.
