Just bought my first truck. Hard to believe I am nearly 50, from Alabama, and have never had a truck. So, here she is..... a very low miles, one owner, 2017 CPO TRD PRO in Cement Grey. Funny, when I first started looking for a truck in 2020 (yes I suffer from stage 5 indecision), the first one I ever looked at was almost this exact truck; only difference was that it was a double cab. I let it get away, and have been looking for one like it ever since. Just goes to show that good things do come to those who wait, especially if you are willing to wait a really, really long time and overpay because of whatever used car crisis we are in the middle of. I digress....

Anyway, I think the only mods are the tires and mirrors. It came with the original mirrors if I choose to put them on. I am not sold on the look of these particular mirrors, but the wide format and the dual mirror feature are growing on me. I have seen some I like on some of your trucks. Have not made up my mind yet.

Tires are BFG KO2 305/65/18. BFG website has them at 33.6"x12.2". Also says minimum rim size is 8.5". Yes they are on spotless TRD rims. I have looked all through the forum's vast knowledge base on the matter, and I have concluded nothing. Seems I am right in the cracks where there are split opinions. It looks to me like there is clearance in the fender wells and at the UCA. I am pretty sure there are no suspension mods and/or chopping. They are practically brand new. I think the original owner put them on and promptly traded it in. He probably discovered (as I have) that he was about to be on the slippery slope of one thing leading to another. You guys know what I am talking about, don't you?

First thing I buy is going to be some sort of side rails and maybe a driver side pull bar. The plastic trim in the door jamb is 24" above the ground. I am 5'10" and I want to preserve my seat and paint as much as possible. A friend just put the AMPs on his Trail Boss, and I was surprised at how much I liked the look and feel of them. Just don't like the price tag. Don't worry, I promise not to start a new thread on the topic.

Anyway, that's all for now. Happy new year everybody! 20220101_220837898_iOS.jpg 20220101_214657596_iOS.jpg

Welcome from TX! Good lookin rig! The Trail Ridge tow mirrors (what you have on) look better with bigger meats imo. There are also the GM-style mirrors everyone seems to have switched to these days :notsure:

Thanks all for the welcome and the advice. The plan is to be sensible and ease into this thing:fingerscrossed:. Truck will be a light daily driver (why it needs to look good) and on weekends, trips to home depot and hopefully take it on trails for camping. By the way, I don't know squat about camping either, so there's some money to be spent there too. Just took my first guided fly fishing outing, and got some gear for Christmas, so there's that too. My sons are 25 and 20. Looking for some father/son opportunities. Truck figures to be a part of that.

For those who asked, I am in Trussville (few miles NE of Birmingham).
