    Hey folks!

Thank you all so much for the archival wisdom you’ve granted me over the last year while I have been pulling tight an 02 access cab V6 with 237k. Most of the work I’ve still had to pay a professional to sort out but the research I did here beforehand saved me hours of paid labor when I could show up to the shop and tell them what I think the truck needed, which thanks to you I was always accurate.

The areas where I got the most help for stuff i did myself was with all the suspension, wheels, tires sizes, rear window leaks, door motor replacement, the seemingly low oil pressure on the gauge being a non-issue, understanding this truck’s limited gvwr, etc..

During the first year of covid I was living on the road in my 2012 prius, working uber eats in arizona and california. When it got too hot there i came back home to the pacific northwest and used the money I’d saved to buy the truck and get working on it.

It needed new axles, brakes, suspension, valve cover seals, timing and pumps, emissions, safety airbags had an electrical issue, all fluids, door gaskets… basically I didn’t realize what a beater I had bought.. It has been really expensive to sort out, regretfully. I could have bought a much newer truck with all that money but..

Now it’s sorted out and it was done properly. It’s a good rig.

Thanks to you I also knew what to look for in a camper.. and the dry weight of the 1976 Perris Valley is 920lbs. Got the airbags installed last week and the torklift frame mounts. I’ll be sorting out the camper the rest of this month and by January the plan is to be on the road indefinitely. Heading south first toward sunshine and warmth. Then might head toward the east coast. And up through Canada next summer.

Have a few different modes of income, including licensed drone pilot, some wfh computer work, and I also love delivering food on my bicycle for uber eats and door dash.. but I primarily plan to keep costs low as possible so I can save money, and take time off when I feel like it.

Anyway.. life is good ✌ thanks,
    Jake
