Just now actively engaging in the forum. I've had 1st gen Tundras since 2003 and just changed to an 08 5.7 double cab after years of frustration with the lack of power in the 4.7 at altitude. After reading the responses to the most frequent questions re-asked, I'll do my best to curb the scorn by searching previous posts before posting.:D

I read the posting about wheel and tire size as it relates to the maximum size for the different generations and lift configurations. Helpful and concise. Thanks.
My question is about advantages and preferences as it relates to wheel size. I currently have 20 Limited wheels with all season for general road travel but am planning on buying a set for winter/elk hunting. I'm not an off-roader but do hunt and mountain bike frequently. I've had Cooper AT3 on previous tundras and was happy with them. I may do a 2" lift but not sure. The 2008 sits fairly low at stock height.

Thoughts on getting 18 or 20 inch wheels and any advantages to one or the other? If this is already exhausted somewhere here please post the link. Thanks.

If you drive forest roads for hunting and biking, I’d go with 18” wheels instead of 20. You’ll get more side wall on the tires you go with and that will be a more comfortable ride.

20" wheels are for trucks that don't get dirty, go 18", you're in Colorado!

    Welcome from up in Breck

Props to ya, I grew up in Littleton and could never imagine going back to the front range with how insane it is there now.

Welcome from SoCal. You can also fit 17s if you want to maximize your sidewall.

I agree. However the hills aren’t to far behind from what I see.

I mean it's busier than ever but it's apples to oranges really. The only cool town left on the front range with a mtn town vibe is Lyons.

Welcome from Fort Morgan! Recommend 18’s or even 17’s over 20’s, both are cheaper wheels and tires.
