My 18 year old grandson is boarding SWA right now in El Paso bound for USMC Boot Camp in San Diego. Pretty mixed emotions right now. :(:oldglory:

Good luck. It is very emotional!
Our good family friend and my kids longtime babysitter just arrived Saturday in Parris Island SC for bootcamp. She is 18 and can kick my ass (double black belt in Tang-Soo Do). She and your grandson will be assets for our armed forces!

Thanks all, for the well wishes, appreciation, and encouragement.

I've seen it once before when his dad went to USN boot in San Diego. A skinny kid went to swabbie boot, came out a muscled-up guy with that classic wide shoulders, narrow waist in only a few short weeks. Incredible.

My son confided that he had leaned heavily on his faith to get him through it. I'm sure his son will be fine.

Chow to chow and church to church is how you pass the weeks in boot camp.

Chow to chow for sure. No matter how crazy things get....soon or later you will have 90 seconds to eat a meal lol.

I have a friend down there right now that just went back to DI duty from the swim tank. I wonder if he is picking up this Friday or joined a platoon already in cycle.
I can't remember which Company he went to. Maybe Ill send him a message and see.

Anyway good luck to your grandson!

I remember when our son shipped out to Ft. Jackson for Army boot. That was a tough time for us. It's hard to believe that was 19-1/2 years ago. He's going to retire when he hits 20 years later this year.
Best of luck to your son! Be very proud of him!
