I have seen the dash display showing the direction of the truck. Has anyone heard of some type of software upgrade that can be done?

My 17 SR5 with factory nav shows directions and turns in display, but only when I have route programmed. Is this what your talking about?

I should have specified what I meant maybe. Here is a snap of owners pdf for my 2017 showing what I see in my multi information display when I have route programmed.11CAAAA8-2452-4175-8424-97D0FD8EBD7A.jpg other than that I do no not think I have compass display.

I have all that stuff and have been through it a gazillion times. Never was able to modify displays outside of guidance arrows during active routing. She does like to say "stay right, rather than exit right at a fork between two state routes and other irritating things.

In true Toyota fashion they seem to seldom ever offer redundant displays or controls. Your rear view has the compass, and on mine it's the only place you'll find it short of the Nav.

I always figured that I'd die in the truck, unable to find the unlock button in the dark, long before the dash compass, but hey.. I get your frustration. ☺️

2018 has a compass in the instrument cluster. 2nd from left. You can set it to rotate NSEW or static directions with an arrow that rotates. I’m guess that where the turn by turn is for the GPS, but I never use the truck’s GPS for directions.

    dashcam... more to come
My 2018 SR5 does not have a compass.. I think it must be only in certain models. I think maybe with built in navigation it shows up in the instrument cluster? Not sure

Yeah, pretty sure it’s the nav option on the dash.

Yes, the up/down arrow will scroll through the item in navigation screen.

    Not my first whine...

Really disappointed with the nav that comes available. I like to have my map up so I can see surrounding streets and landmarks, and that’s just not possible with Scout. All I get is arrows, which I seldom need.
Still debating the harness that would allow me to run Waze on the screen.
