I installed RB 20 boards on my truck and is it normal to see the silver u brackets from the side or directly standing over the steps? I moved one side a little aft to cover the u bracket so right now they are installed staggered on the truck. Is either way wrong? I installed them the proper orientation not backwards but that may change. Also did anyone else have to remove the existing bolts that were on the truck? I had to. And the front bracket doesn’t really sit on flush. Is that normal? Nice looking boards but damn are they wide, I was not ready.

Yes? I’ve had 2 sets, they are average quality at best imo.. I didn’t not like them, but would not recommend. The floor pan changed slightly between 2nd, and 3rd gen. I tried to make them understand that the brackets were wrong because of the change, obviously they did not care.

I moved the step aft like I have on the driver side and bent the black bracket a bit so it doesn’t show as much now. This photos is before I did all that. As you can see the silver bracket sticks out.

This is after. So now the 2nd bracket is covered but the third shows a little as it does on the drivers side.

Went out to take a pic of my RB20s on my MGM and realized it's all brown. Haha. Terrible weather in Colorado right now. But underneath the dirt my brackets are powder coated on all sides. That's strange yours are raw metal inside.

Mine were. @Tundra_Sam said something about hiding his "silver brackets" but I can't see the silver in the pic. I would think riding down there with all the road grime they should be coated on all sides.

The brackets are black, the piece that goes in the running board that clamps it down is silver. You can position them to be mostly hidden. Both pairs I had cracked...

I see. After doing reading on these steps and hearing on opinions to being too wide and a good door ding, to the bedliner peeling away I never read about the silver brackets showing. That is shitty but I wanna give these a try as I got them for under $400 and I need steps cuz my seats taking a hit. Plus the only other steps I want are the amp boards but I can’t justify spending money on that.

Yeah I got mine for $330 from uspartsoutlet on Ebay. I think I know what people are saying about them being bent or not quite fitting right on the 3rd gen but I was able to get them mounted straight without too much trouble. And I love the look! They stick out far but I wanted door ding protection too. I'm very happy with value for the price but I guess time will tell how they hold up.
