I'm not a quality control person, but my understanding is ISO9001/AS9100 are quality control requirements that force documentation of essentially everything. You can comply with it and be useless (Boeing?), or you can not comply with it and still do everything that's needed. An example is, one program I worked on had some level of design review and it was a bunch of people sitting around just so we could check off "we did a preliminary design review".

I have gotten in trouble multiple times because the quality control process I thought was useless, BUT WE WERE 9001/9100 COMPLIANT! Go through all the shit to release a drawing, and quality control and people are signing off on it---but no one is actually reviewing the design and analysis so what is the point of the quality sign off? That the drawing ITAR call outs are correct? They don't verify the dimensions match with the interfacing parts even, let alone if/what analysis was done. But someone signed off and it was documented someone looked at it!

And I am not anti-quality control, but more often than not the quality control exists to meet the standard but not actually improve the product. Because of this stuff makes it through the quality control process and gets the stamps and paperwork even if something is messed up, and as you pointed out you have to pay all these people and time for these tasks so the product is now not improved, costs more, and takes longer to build.

In conclusion, I wouldn't get your hopes up of the end result being any better than anywhere else, but it'll certainly cost more. 9001/9100 can be as sexy or a waste of time as a company wants, being compliant doesn't mean much, how they comply is what matters.

Not rocket/car related but I have seen this time & again in THX certified gear. I had Anthem wildly expensive THX AV gear that sucked compared to not certified Marantz (not cheap) gear.

Certs are a crapshoot in all fields.

I worked with a fully Microsoft certified (and IMHO needing to be certified to a mental institution) network admin, guy could not do shit, he lasted 2 years longer than anyone bet, last straw was bringing the noc down because he r&r'd the main network interface wrong.

That is disappointing but not at all surprising at the same time. Sounds like 95% of our useless government bureaucracies that drive up costs to nobodies benefit. Bring on the DOGE. Sad to see it stifles even the aerospace industry.

Happy Thanksgiving to the boost gang!

I ordered a Powertrax this week. Supposed to deliver on black Friday. Hope it works well. Have had traction bars waiting for install for a while now.

    transmission update #3:
Spoke to Pat Barrett yesterday. He was able to get the new clutch installed and the line pressures are coming up like he likes. Crossmember bolts still have not arrived. He plans to go to his local dealer to just pick them up in hand instead of dealing with the delays.
Truck runs great. I just sent him my tune file so he can make trans edits to the tune to get the line pressure up prior to torque coming on so the clutches engage prior to torque build instead of trying to increase line pressure post torque build like it’s doing right now. Essentially re working the trans portion of the tune to accommodate my torque curve and trans capabilities making sure it syncs up. He did give kudos to the tuner so great job @snivilous for how nicely the truck delivers power and how smooth and strong it is. Unsure if I’ll pick the truck up tomorrow. Still tbd. Not in a rush, like I said. And just want it done right. More to follow!!

Wouldn't the edits be GEARED to the built transmission?

What I did there do you see it?

What he changes would be very interesting, how those edits differ from stock/current settings, and what they are meant to resolve/adjust. More data is never a bad thing.

Agree. I will make sure to review the differences. I think the biggest difference it going to be changing the load values sooner in the rpm range so the line pressure comes up earlier for engagement prior to torque coming in. But what that looks like I'm not sure.

That'll be great if they are in. Did the company have it in stock or drop shipped from powertrax?

I want to install a LSD but I haven't found a reputable place near me that does rear ends. I will call ECGS and see what the cost of a fully assembled 3rd member is.

FWIW, i helped one of my friends install my powertrax, we we able to reuse shims and bearings, all the measurements matched up perfectly.

Was not very hard, the third member is stupid heavy though. Used this to pull bearings without destroying them:

Does ECGS install powertrax? I thought in the past they only used Auburn but I could be wrong. Otherwise that would have appealed to me as well.

So you sent them your gears and powertrax you’re saying? If so, did you ship the front diff and gears too?
