I remember @snivilous telling me to have a good internet connection, fully charged laptop battery and make sure it doesnt update during your session. Turn all that bubblegum crap off.
Costco had a sale on a cheap Lenovo IdeaPad for $200. Wasn't sure if its good but only use it for dedicated HPT and Techstream. I passed on the deal but still thinking about it since it's cheap.

This right here! Why I wired an accessory on/off switch for all nonessential stuff drawing amps with ign on.

If you don't have your laptop for dataogging I use my phone to record. I'm able to record the gauges, afr/boost/fuel psi, and rpm for shift points. Helps me see the lag in PE when it shifts and if it needs some adjustment. But data log is best! Just make sure your looking at the road!

mans wants me to blow my truck up for the 0-60 run?!
I'll get a few runs done once I make sure my truck isn't running too lean at high rpms... or 650's and a tune is next

I just emailed a guy a tune and this was the list of things I told him I do to try and flash successfully:

    1. If you have a battery tender/charger plug that in so the battery voltage stays up. If this isn't an option, I drive the truck around and warm it up so the battery is topped off.
    2. Have a reliable internet connection. I even go so far as to hotspot off my phone since I don't trust the wifi from dropping out.
    3. Turn everything off in the truck. Headlights, interior lights, radio, climate controls, everything possible so there's no extra draws.
    4. Make sure the laptop isn't going to crash. I personally close everything except HP Tuners to try and avoid any other programs hijacking the CPU and triggering something. If you have to plug in your laptop so be it. Maybe sit there and twitch the mouse so it won't turn off if you're unsure what the standby time is.
    5. Once I click flash I don't touch anything, the last thing you need is for the USB cord to get bumped and lose continuity.
    6. Pray to the ECU gods.

Just get a trickle charger and hook it up while you tune and you'll be fine. I have the one linked below

Another item HPT support suggested to me when I had issues was to buy a high quality USB cord. Suggested I don't use the one sent in their kit. Go figure that one...

I’ve thought about doing this. Wasn’t sure how well it would work with parallels and my older machine as I’m not sure my little M1 MBP that I usually have in my bag in the truck has enough room or HP for it. I used to run Parallels on my iMac but it has 32GB of ram so I didn’t have any resource issues.

Keep an eye on those afr's when approaching sea level. Try to keep it at 10.5 afr or lower when on it...

Bench recovery of the ECM appears to be unsuccessful. Was able to get it to do the force reflash of the stock file with VF, but it's still behaving the same as before. :annoyed:

Anybody know what fusible link @Fastlane47 had blow in his truck that made it look like the ecm bricked?

Mat at VF seemed to think it could be a blown fuse, but I can't find any.

Did you do boost ref cause you went smaller pulley or was your truck running lean with stock mag tune and kit components. Can’t remember

Yes I couldn't get enough power enrichment with dialed in fuel trims with 43 psi regulator boost referenced with 76mm pulley. Duty cycle was maxed. So I did the jumper on the FFV relay for 60psi boost referenced. Now I'm deducting fuel in PE and gained back InjDC. Furthermore non boost referenced with regulator being pulled from the intake tube I was leaning out in lower rpm when getting into PE. Boost referenced with PE adjustment richened low rpm cells for me.

ok so you were fine until you added 76 pulley. Then ran lean. Did boost ref. Wasn’t enough. Did jumper with boost ref to gain another 10psi and then ran too rich. Now you’re dialing it back to give your injectors a break. You’re on 535’s? Or upgrade to 650?

Yes running off the 43 psi with FFV relay pulled, 750cc injectors, 76mm and non boost referenced I could not get enough fuel. I would lean out from 4400-6000 rpm. Then I boost referenced at 43 psi and tuned the MAF/re adjusted PE. That cleared up running lean getting into boost but not up high. Then jumping the relay to 60psi, BR'ed, MAF adjusted was able to decrease all my multipliers in the PE table. Now I'm right at 10.5 A/F up top..... I'm still tuning leaner down low when getting into boost. She taps in at 9-9.4 in the lower rpm ranges. For reference here is a log I pulled earlier. As you can see I need to decrease the PE in the lower rpm ranges.

FYI also keep in mind I did reset ethanol content to zero. It kept creeping positive in the fuel trims and had me at 39% ethanol. Never had I ran corn in this vehicle.

Hkw did you think you were running lean/rich? Was it feeling off, stutter, power loss? Or just ran numbers to see?
You think it has something to do with the FF system?

I'm logging A/F via pro link on scanner. When I was lean MFER would move with knock feedback above -3.0. When I running rich I would misfire and throw a code. FFV logic is fucked up imo. Fuel density is a problem and has to be reset to zero now and then.

FFV is a pain, makes everything so inconsistent. Just tune on the rich side and make sure your MAF table is dialed in and you'll be golden:D
