For those who have a Fumoto valve, do you use the plastic locking clip? Has anyone ever heard of a spontaneous unintentional draining with them?

I’m installing one in my next oil change this weekend and didn’t know if I should buy the $3 clip with $10 S&H

Not worth $13. Never had one on Tacomas. No problems over 8 years. I have one now but Fumoto I ordered came with it. Valve locks,in up position so unless you have coons with a taste for oil I don't see a problem

I've used fumoto valves on all the vehicles I've owned for more than 10 years and have never had a leak or the valve accidentally opening. As a precaution, i just use a zip tie in the groove so there's no chance of accidentally lifting and sliding the lever.

I've got one on my '06 outback that's been on there for about five years. Never had a problem until this last winter when we got a ton of snow and had to do some spirited off road driving up and down my unpaved dirt country lane that's about three miles long. When i pulled back up to my house one evening I saw an oil patch that I hadn't noticed before. Stuck my head under the car and saw that the valve had unseated itself from the lock groove ever so slightly and it was slowly weeping oil. Clicked the valve back to the lock position and it stopped. I bought the valve locking clip that same day.

i have the clip. 13 bucks for a plastic clip is silly but its a bit cheaper then a new engine i suppose.

I have one. Ordered all together. Wouldn’t pay 13 bucks for one. Let that clip sit in the Amazon cart till you don’t have to pay $10 for shipping and are ordering something else.

EDIT: like the piece of hose to run into your drain pan. 0 drip oil changes are nice.

I knew of a couple of people using a worm gear or hose clamp as a clip. I didn't have any clip or clamp, had zero issues and had it on for about 7 years on my lowered legacy gt.

I have the clip on mine, but I don't remember paying 10 bucks for shipping o_O. I bought them together so maybe it was combined shipping

I don't understand the nipple cover. Oil is only flowing out so what's the purpose.

    It’s a magazine not a clip!

I have two Fumotos with foreskin and two Fumotos that are circumcised. All have been just fine.

And now.....my lawyer likes me to include this part >>> YMMV.

I installed and use the clip just in case. Also use the nipple so your tube will seat properly when you need to drain.
