I decided to start a new thread on the issue of low fuel levels threatening the life of electric fuel pumps (rather than discuss this in the 38 gallon thread).

I have not heard of failures but that does not mean that they don't exist. So, I'm just gathering information here, has anyone had their fuel pump fail on them? I never have but I don't run my tank low very often either.

I ran out of gas on my Yamaha FJR1300 once and coasted into a gas station (we were out in BFE and fuel stations were few and far between). 6.6 gallon tank and it took 6.528 gallons to fill it up. Zero issues with the pump, still going strong. This is only one example but I'm curious about others.

    Thanks!

    Dan
