FUEL PUMP FAIL TAKES OUT TWO ECU'S AND OVER $3200 BILL?!

Hi,
anyone out there experience this?
2014 Tundra Limited 5.7 liter gas engine and 70K miles on it.
Occasional start after multiple tries than wont start (cranking fine).
Tow it in and Toyota dealer says $1700 for new fuel pump and fuel pump ECU.
They supposedly put that in and now tell me another $1400 because the main
truck ECU is bad now too. Claims that sometimes when a part fails it takes out
other parts and then gives a fan belt example! Anyone else smelling bull shit?

Sounds like they diagnosed it wrong and want you to pay for their mistake

 

Sounds like a bullshit shake down but difficult to say without a theory of operation providing an overview of how these interplay.
