I use it any chance that I can get it. There are no issues with "the system" handling it.

I use 90 octane ethonal free from QuickTrip. The truck performs much better with it.

Why are y'all using premium? I've used regular 87 with and without ethanol in the Tundra for 9 years. Owner's manual calls for 87.

    This.

Unless you have a supercharger, you're just wasting your money. These aren't high compression motors, so why use the fuel for one?

I think by todays standards 10.2:1 would be considered high compression. I go back and forth about the gas, but even Toyota doesn't completely shun using higher octane.

Lexus LX570 requires premium fuel... and the owner's manual does say research higher octane..

This is where my knowledge is limited, but I would assume that the LX570 engine is tuned differently and that could be the reason Toyota calls for a different fuel octane in that vehicle.

Research octane is not the same octane number that’s listed on pumps in the United States. Our “pump octane” is an average between motor octane and research octane. There’s a formula that’s used to come up with the pump octane. (This formula is sometimes printed on the pump) Research octane is shown on pumps in other parts of the world, so that’s why it’s in parenthesis in the owners manual, like how the quantities for vehicle fluids is in other units is in parenthesis in the manual.

I've used the local Walmart 87 octane gas with ethanol for over a year in my 4.7 and haven't had any problems other than the typical lousy mpgs.
Ethanol free fuel here is around $4+/gallon and who knows how much they sell at that price. I have a feeling it's probably stale. The Walmart fuel across the street is $2.37/gallon.

The pure dino gas pump at Maverick isn't stale. It's a busy pump to say the least. Currently around $2.75

Regular in my 2002 4.7... premium in my DAPtized 2007 5.7, but only if I want the extra performance.

I avoid using ethanol whenever possible.

From what I understand the only good reason to user higher octane fuel rather than the lower recommended octane fuel is for the higher level of cleaning agents not for the higher (non-required) octane level.

Yes anything above 87 octane is a waste for pretty much any Toyota truck. However in NY ethanol free gas only comes in the higher octanes.

I hand calculate my mpg’s and every truck I have owned has had better mpg’s and was “smoother” (according to my butt of course) with ethanol free gas. When used non-ethanol gas is simply much better performance wise. I love using it when I tow. Ethanol sucks and personally I would rather waste the extra octane than not having the benefits of non-ethanol. Ethanol is TERRIBLE!

If a gas station is selling "Top Tier" fuel then detergent package must be added to all grades regardless of octane.

The product that's used for ethanol is of such poor quality that they don't even feed it to livestock when fattening them up. Not condoning ethanol, hate the stuff myself and avoid it when I'm able.

I would prefer to run fuel with no ethanol for better fuel economy and less smog but around here you can only get it in 91 octane, which is a waste of money for an engine that only needs 87.

Where do you find non-ethanol gas stations? In houston every single gas station from shell, chevron etc says it contains ethanol

Ya, the nearest one to me is 50+ miles away, which is fine if I'm on a minor sojourn in that direction, but otherwise I burn what's nearby and Top Tier.

Sort of slide out now my grab handle was supposed to arrive on Saturday, but I will be getting down and out easily once it comes in.
