Good luck man I know noises like that can drive you crazy.

Part of the reason I sold my 1st gen was due to a noise that 4 different mechanics couldn’t locate.

Have you checked all of the heatshields and stuff like that?

I had a rattle in the cab that was driving me nuts thought it was in the dash found it the other day it was the rearview mirror needed tightened. I can not stand a rattle or squeak. Good luck.

How about the hood release contraption? That’s a long rod, and could have come out of its guides...?
