So I’m looking to add a front camera to my truck, I found this one but wanted to see what everyone is running I’m looking for a camera with a fisheye or wide angle lens. 2019 cm platinum

If you plan to keep the stock head unit, search for "FRAC harness" and there's a ton of information available.

This is probably a dumb question, but why do you need a front camera? Is it to pull close to things in front or is it to record idiots in accident situations, or maybe both? I have seen youtube videos of people, especially in foreign countries, who run a front camera recorder at all times to have evidence of any wreaks, etc.

No it’s for distance gauging and parking, the tundra has such a short hood its hard to gauge how close you are to things while parking. Also I just curb rashed my right from rim from not seeing a curb. .

Any pics of the install location and the way it’s mounted?

I used an L bracket and some 3M tape to mount mine under the TSS. Seems to give a decent viewing angle. I'll try to remember to grab a pic of the camera view tomorrow.

I agree it could be useful. I would like to mount one too. I get out of my truck sometimes in a parking lot and see that I have not pulled up to the front line correctly.

Yes this looks good. How’s the clarity and night vision on it? Any way you could snap a pic of how you mounted it with the L bracket? If it’s too much work don’t sweat it at all I know these grilles can be a b!tch to work around some times. I have a ‘19 pro grille so I may need to fabricate another method anyway, we’ll see!

Damn man that looks super clean! Great job, you can hardly tell it’s there I have the exact same grill. Makes me really want to do this now.

I sometimes park on the street in a 2 vehicle spot between driveways so I can gauge how close I can get to the other car, the other person can just drive forward to leave. I need to be a certain distance from the driveway behind me per bylaw, or ahead of the signage if there's a post. I also gauge how forward I can be in shopping lots, so I find it useful.

The cam is wired in a way if it ever breaks down, it's easy to switch out the first 2 feet to the connector behind the grille, can't beat $13, bought this exact one last Dec:

    https://www.amazon.com/NOAUKA-Waterproof-Reversing-Reverse-Universal/dp/B06XNM7GNS

I'm using it with an android head unit but a FRAC will work well with stock.

I'm using this same camera - does it fit where you have it easily, or is there some flex on the grille surround and bumper because of it? I'm going to check my viewing angle compared to yours and maybe move mine there.

I found that to be the optimal spot without drilling anywhere. It's wedged with 3M double sided automotive tape, no flex and has stayed on all year. The screw comes up behind the plastic.

You can see my bumper at the bottom of the screen in the 2nd pic, when it reaches that I have 5" left before it hits, I used a tall bucket to test, I literally spent an hour temporarily taping it to other spots, and I didn't want to drill into that pricey TSS cover. On a non 2019+ Pro grille, there's probably better spots.

How do you turn the front camera on when you need it? I know the back one comes on when you put it in reverse, but what triggers the front one?

Gotcha. I just checked mine and I think I'm happy with the viewing angle. I think it's probably at the ideal spot for the 18+ honeycomb

Ya that looks good on screen, I also went up and noticed your pic, that's a great place cosmetically on your grille too. I wouldn't move it.

So there is an extra switch installed in the dash where the factory left panels to put switches. Thanks

I mounted mine in the same spot with an L bracket and 3M tape too. I also reinforced it with an extra strap bolted from the L bracket to one of the TSS mounting bolts.

Do you have any pics of the mounting? I couldn't figure out a good way to mount mine so I went below the license plate holder for now. It does the job but I think it's a little too low.

It's hard to admit this, I've been driving a Tundra since 2015 and I still have no damn idea where the thing sits in space and time.
I think I have it nailed then I get out and realize Stevie Wonder probably parks better than me.
Yesterday I actually had to get back in and move it because more of the truck was in the lane than my parking spot.

The one OP posted works with Tundras, switch is cool looking.. and the kit looks well made. Just wonder about the quality of the front camera..

Here's the ghetto bracket I made. It does the trick and has (so far) held up to the 115 degree Phoenix summer heat:
    IMG_1754.jpg

I ran the cable inside wire loom along the TSS cable and mounted the connector at the top with the one for the TSS so that I can easily disconnect and remove the grille when needed:

    Nice.
That's OK - it looks like @TRDFerguson has a similar setup. Thanks for the offer to take the pics though. I'm guess that is the optimal install location. I might have to move mine now as it's a bit low and ugly:
