Looking to upgrade my front bumper, currently considering the SS Built front bumper or the Evil Off Road Bumper, and really cant decide if i want valence on it or not lol. Also considering if i should get the one with a spot for a front winch for a little more $$. Which members on here have either setup, pros, cons and post some pics please! Im local to both shops and price wise they are about the same ballpark. I like these bumpers because they have a high clearance for trailing and compliment the front end of the tundra for a nice clean look. If anyone else has another brand they want to throw into the mix please do! Ill post the pictures I found on their instagram pages of probably a few members on here when i get a chance later

I have the Evil w/winch, got a great deal from a friend. It really reduced the approach angle with it's lower mounts. So, I chopped it and modified it, removing the winch mount and improving the approach angle. I have glass fenders so the bumper is extra wide and seems just a wee bit flimsy at the ends. It's also only 1.75" tubing and I think 2" would better serve our trucks.
I had some work done by SS and really like those guys. If I were gonna order a new bumper it'd be from SS or it'd be a custom 1 off. But that's just my .02.

My SS Built bumper has no valance and I have a winch, which has the controller attached inside just offset and gives a lot of clearance on approach.

Only thing I would have SS do different is have the bumper away more from the panels so there’s more clearance and less rub. It hasn’t been too bad but it could get loose at some point.

SS trimmed the rear fenders some but I’ll be cutting off more so there’s more clearance at the tire area.

I know a guy selling a brand new Evil Hellion bumper for cheap! Local to Orange County..
HMU if you’re interested and I can connect you.
I’m thinking about purchasing it myself but I already have an aftermarket bumper (Westin) that I’m happy with. It doesn’t have the clearance like the Evil tho :/

I had a valance on there. I recently removed it last month and grinded the tabs and smoothened it out myself. I am loving the way it looks now without the valance

@Pinay can you get some photos of the inside of that rear bumper. I'm curious to see if they used your original bolts to mount that bumper or still mickey mouse'd the nuts and bolts. Since I was the first few to get the rear bumpers they mickey mouse'd the nuts and bolts to mount the rear bumper and til this day I just did not trust the support and mounting power with it as to the original bolts. I still have not towed anything yet because of that. Another thing is that I don't have the original bolts because when they installed it everything was everywhere and just swept aside. Now I'll have to order all new bolts. I'll probably dismount the rear bumper and enlarge the holes to get the original bolts to fit RIGHT.

You know what, I don’t have any direct skits on the bolts except this before install shot and one with bolts showing on passenger.

Love being valance free and yes it does give it a more aggressive front end look to it. I picked up a welding machine and have been practicing on my spare time when I am not working, so I'll revise a few points on the front bumper and make a little bit more fine tuning to it, to my liking and how I really wanted it to be. Sorry I am no longer on instagram, I deleted my account and trying to stay away from it for awhile as I am in the market for a home sometimes this year and next year. Gotta set the truck aside for quite awhile instead of always working on it lol.

Yeah looks like they used the original bolts on yours!!! I don't even have my bolts and Im sure it's long gone in their scrap bucket. I hate to have that thought every time that the rear bumper isn't being bolted by the original bolts, but instead some other hardware of nuts and bolts.

Well like I mentioned before because I was one of the first few that got the rear bumper before they actually blew up and produced more, they were making what they can and getting it to fit somehow someway without enlarging the holes for the original bolts to fit. Now that I mentioned this part, I'm really hoping the threads in the rear frame isn't fugged or crossed up from the bolts they used to get it to fit.

Yes, it isn't the full length skid that they finally came up with. Just the original skid, was the regular aluminum finish look until I hammered that skid in from a jump and smashed my radiator. They offered a new skid and a full length one, but every time they scheduled the date for me to come in, they would forgot, then forget, then reschedule, then I was like.. you know what forget it. I'll just take the matter to my own hands. Used my brother's f250 diesel, ran over the dented part of the skid, bend it back, grinded and smoothened out the rough damaged edges, painted it black with steel-it and called it a day.

 Kinda sounds like you were the crash test dummy for those of us that followed after you!!
Steven and them are great guys and come up with some good product, but like you said blew up big time and need better time management with production and delivery.

Totally understandable wanting to do a self fix!! I wanted more cuts in the rear quarter panel and asked em to, but just no time to take off work for that so I'll be doing the cuts myself.

Agree! Time management and product delivery is what could be improvised. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to run their business, but it even sucks more when you are on their list, then someone else cries to get on it and they coughs up a a bit more cash up front to cut you or a few off to get in front of the line while you get stepped on and forget on really sucks arse. Taking in more than the amount of manpower can handle is also not the way to do things also, but who am I to say as I am just a peasant throwing away money.

I always wondered if cutting in line by offering more money was actually done! Now makes more sense! I was already budget stretched as it is when this group buy came in, sure wasn't in any position to make bribes!

What part is rubbing, I’m getting my rear bumper done already made the down payment on it, should be in power coat this week. I let Steve know I was interested in the front and he gave me a quote. Current setup up front that I told him was powder coat the skid, plates on the sides where there’s a gap which I saw someone did and push bar. Contemplating if I wanted to get the winch bumper because it’s $200 more but not sure if I would ever really use a winch I always go out with a group of friends

The area where the panel piece meets close to new bumper. There really should be more of a gap, a good 1/2” or ideally more.

    Here with arrow pointing.

Damn that sucks, any paint damage? Does anyone that has their standard bumper have this issue? Or was it only with this setup because they customized it for the winch
