I read a report about this very trend several months ago and I think it is very smart of Ford to take this step. Number 1 rule in business is to provide what your customers are asking for. Think about it. The smaller number of folks looking at a sedan are going to look at the Camry and Accord before they look at a Taurus or Fusion.

Ford hasn't been a big player in the car market for years. They have lived on truck and SUV sales. I think the Taurus kept them afloat in the car market forever because it was such a popular company car.

I will point out that Fords Fusion Sport AWD makes 325HP (twin turbo).

Ford can make $10K or more on every truck they make. Not near as much on cars. Everybody wants a SUV or Truck. I doubt the Mustang will be around much longer unless they sell a beefed up version.

Any small car import has to meet our safety standards. A big hurdle otherwise we would have more cars like those little Fiats...

If that happens we would all have to get white trucks because they burn 1/2 the gas because less friction with Super White................

Seems odd they would announce this. I would think it would kill off any interest in passenger cars that are on the lot right now. I know I would drop Ford from consideration since it is going to follow the likes of Saturn and others that have disappeared. Little after market support.

Crossover suv's are the nail in the coffin for cars. They are built in car platforms so ride And performance is About the same when compared tho an equvilant car. But you get much more space for people And cargo with the cuv, why purchase a car? Ford realizes cars are tanking so I think it's a smart move, look at Nissan last month car sales double digit loss. Honda is having a hard time selling the accord as well.
