Unfortunately not surprising. Reason to go to a Tundra!

Interesting. The 2013 was decent. The 2014 had to have the engine rebuilt and was traded. The 2018 also had engine issues with cams. Then traded and buys another 2018 and it has issues as well.

This is the reason I’m done with The domestic truck market. Ford, Dodge and Gm are straight hit and miss with reliability. This is why own a Tundra.

No kidding. Then add in intermittent problem with the front camera. I would then always have that engine problem in the back of my head as well. No thanks!

It makes me curious, Toyota reliability is well known, why haven’t the other brands adopted toyota’s ways so they could have the same reliability? Unless Toyota has been keeping it a secret or they just can’t do the same thing Toyota does, or someone wants the domestic markets to keep making shitty cars to waste money, meh, I don’t know.

People seem to keep trading them in on newer models so what incentive do they have to change anything?

Exactly. Until they start losing a noticeable number of buyers do to poor reliability they'll never change anything.

The buyers first priority was "style".
Watched that video with my wife. We were both in shock that he kept going back to the Ford koolaid. He even has problems with his current one.

My first priority is reliability. It's just a bonus that Toyota has style also...

A polish contractor blurted out " You should have bought the F150 " I asked why would do that? As I was getting into my 2017 Tundra 4x4 1794. He then sounded like a ford add telling me why. I asked where he was from he replied Poland proudly. I started laughing out loud and drove away. :burnrubber:

Toyota has only a tiny fraction of the market compared to the big three. I would guess that ford and gmc dont consider toyota as a serious competitor in the new era of luxury trucks.

Like luxury cars, they really only need to be good enough till its time to trade it in for the newest model with its new features.

Thats just my personal observation, ofcourse.
It still doesnt make any sense as to why ford wont just stick to a platform until they have figured out all the issues. Instead they just ditch it for a whole new design and repeat the cycle...

I used to be a die hard ford guy. Now i cringe when i see one.

What Domestic truck is made in America? Is the question. Next is we’re are the parts made. My last two gm trucks were made in Mexico along with most of the parts. Then add in AFM to the mix and it’s a disaster waiting to happen

They aren't keeping it a secret; there are textbooks out there about how Toyota manages its quality system

But, but, but, the tundra is "out dated"!!! The engine is a dinosaur! The radio isn't cool, and the seats aren't super comfy!!!

Unions and insanely high pensions are crippling the entire Ford motor company.

Cheaply made, overpriced vehicles are the result.

Don’t believe me? Check their stock price...and vehicle resale values.

Is 80 or 90 hp and torque possible with a cold air intake and a tune like he claimed? Maybe because it is a turbo?

Has reliability always been this way with Ford? With the big 3? I've been a Toyota guy since 2004; my truck prior to that was a 1997 Chevy S-10, and it completely died around 76,000 miles. But say in the 80's, were trucks from these manufacturers just as bad? In the 70's?

Yep, that’s the truth. Most people don’t realize that the Toyota corporate structure is actually a complete corporate culture, copied, modeled and taught. It has little to do with unions or pensions, but much to do with “cradle to grave” thinking.

Now Ford will keep a lookout for this truck...
Especially since he stated he tuned the engine, there went your warranty...

That's a good point, with as much trouble as he had with the last one, why would you put more strain on it and probably void your warranty.

I've slowly backed away from Ford the last few years. I got the wife a Camry in 14, bought a used 13 Tundra in 15, recently had to replace the wife's 14 Camry due to a wreck with an 18, and also got an 18 4 Runner. I want to drive my vehicles and mod them for looks/performance, not because this or that is a known issue and breaking point. I will admit I just dragged home a 99 Ranger for a work truck, behind my Tundra on a trailer at 70-75 with no problems other than gas. I'll let Ford sell their newest tech and wizardry to the younger crowd or people wanting the bells and whistles, I hope that whistle is loud enough for a rollback.

If any buyer looking at a raptor would just peek at the raptor forums they would run for the hills. Just looking through the first couple pages you would see 3-5 threads on someone having issues with their $90k truck.

We've had a chevy or three as work trucks in the past but they were worked hard before we got them. '96/ '97 1500 silverados and a '85 which i still to this day dont know if it was the gmc or chevy version. The 1500's i guess where ok considering the abuse they took but the '85 was awesome. If there was an issues with it all you needed was a 12 pack and a few wrenches. Pop the hood and crawl on in and take a seat. Wasnt nothing in the way.

The mid '90's to 2002 (2001?) F150's were really good to us but there were definitely some repairs that just sucked *cough heater core*.
The early '90s square/box body with the 5.0l if memory serves me right was solid.

Basically after 2002ish ford was a cluster ....

I had an 02 extra cab and an 03 Lightning. Both were good trucks but I traded the 02 in at 30k for the 03. I recently sold the Lightning with 42k on it. The truck had early problems of back glass leaking at the bulk head, the cruise control recall, and a check engine light early on. I will say it was still an awesome truck. Very few can turn the tires over with a trailer dragging another vehicle. She was a beast in her day.

Started before that with the 5.4. I know from experience. 2001 F150 is the reason I bought Tacomas and now drive a Tundra.
