I’m new to this but I have a 2011 tundra 5.7 and never noticed until today that my oil pressure would go up as I was accelerating, is this normal?

Oil pressure always goes up as you drive and the RPMs go up.

On the video that’s me going from 0 to 40 or so. Once I get back to idle it goes back to normal

It will be more prominent once the engine is warmed up. When oil is cold you will have more pressure at idle. As the oil heats up it’s thinner in the oil pressure at idle will be less. As the pump spins the pressure goes up. If it’s spiking abnormally high you could have other issues like a clogged filter or worse. But I doubt that’s what you’re saying.

I’ll have to look on my way to work but that doesn’t look crazy. Videos need to be posted through an outside source like YouTube.

I’ll check on my way to work here in a few minutes. Doesn’t look like it’s ridiculously high but it does look high. I think you just have good oil pressure. That’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned. Is that about as high as it goes or does it keep climbing? As long as it doesn’t go all the way I think you’re OK. If it does you have some type of restriction in there somewhere. But again I think you’re OK.

All right. Mine hovers is just below half in park at idle with the engine warmed up. Upon mild acceleration mine will go up to just under 3/4. These gauges aren’t completely accurate also mine is a different year and gauge layout than yours. But I’d say you are just fine. Welcome to the farm by the way! Stick around.

I'm glad you posted on this. I just got a 2013 and noticed the same thing.. sounds like a non-issue
