New Orleans PD wasn’t pleased about this. Personally, more power too the guy. Truck has been robbed like 8 times and he’d had enough.

Context: this is in New Orleans la.

As of the past month we’ve had car jacking, murders, armed robbery, and so on.

These people bust windows every night. Mostly for the hell of it. Last week a 70yr old was car jacked, dragged three blocks with her arm severed in the process only to die on scene.

Louisiana is a pretty bad place to be.

Also legal in Louisiana to use deadly force to protect life and property. You can shoot someone trying to Carjack your car. Even if you’re not in it.

They do need to to make devices like that for people to put into their vehicles. It should have knocked him out long enough for the cops to get him.

So you have to be in it to justify lethal force... time to sleep in the truck.

Next time he should use a Frag grenade. We need to start terminating all criminals in our society. It’s out of control. To many innocent people are getting hurt/killed.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I strongly disagree with you and confirm that Louisiana as a whole is a dumpster fire. I’ve been all over this state top to bottom. There isn’t a single place that isn’t trash. Okay to visit for a short period, never a place to live.

Tom Segura said it best, build a wall around Louisiana.

Yup. But, you don’t want to destroy your truck in the process. I say some type of heat seeking munition that targets anyone illegally entering the vehicle.

Nevada has the same law on CarJacking; which just to clarify is the unlawful taking by force or threatened use of force a vehicle from someone's immediate physical control. Either got be drivin' it, in it, hand on it, etc...

A little back ground on this law going into affect for those that may think this is extreme or unjustified... CarJacking is essentially armed robbery (with a weapon or by means of strong-armed physical violence) and the robbery is of you, but the perceived (your perception) of the targeted item being your motor vehicle. This type of offense carries with it an extremely high risk of violence and volatility. Places in California, Phx, Vegas, etc. were seeing too many cases where the victims were willfully surrendering their vehicles to the person committing the robbery, but were still shot, killed, or otherwise seriously injured even when trying to fully comply with the attacker.

The amount of 'preclusion' and the requirement to be 'reasonably in fear of imminent death or great bodily harm' resulting from the incident (from the victim's perception) as required in most deadly force self defense cases, often left the victim w/no reactionary gap (in other words no time to effectively defend oneself and one's family). Essentially the victims were sitting ducks and by the time they had enough information (from the event playing out) they were already at an almost impossible disadvantage in the deadly force encounter. Suspects realized this, and CarJacking soon became quite common in these larger, violent, metropolitan areas.

The CarJacking law essentially gave the victim(s) prima facia elements of the crime and automatically justified their response by allowing the victim to check off less boxes prior to feeling confident with engaging the suspect(s) w/deadly force, etc. during the attack and thus increasing the victim(s)' reactionary gap and chance of escaping the incident w/o death or serious injury to themselves or a family member.

More importantly and more effective in reducing the number of CarJackings was that after a few short months, criminals quickly learned of the severe and immediate consequence to this type of crime and the number of incidents were rapidly reduced in jurisdictions that had similar laws.

Houston ain't far from there and it has the most homicides in the country (as of late Jan). Texas also accounts for a quarter of LEO deaths (LOD) in the country.

It isn't just one state or one city. The whole country is going downhill.

Sometimes a man gotta do what a man gotta do. The police can’t publicly support that type of thing, but I’m sure that there were some cops that would high five this dude who rigged the truck.

I fully support that law. What ever happened to the day when a man’s transportation (horse), was treated just like his family? Thus, giving him the right to protect him transportation by all means possible??

I totally agree. Down here in Florida is no different than LA and Tx. In fact, most of the vehicles stolen around the country are transported out of the country via Florida. At least, that’s what they claim on the tv program “ To Catch A Smuggler.”

i get the trash argument and maybe I’m trashy but I love Louisiana. Best food, bars, culture, country, and good people. There are plenty of nice places in Louisiana. However, I would prefer to raise a family in Texas if given the choice.

On a serious note. The laws in America pertaining to vehicle theft and vandalism need to be revamped. They are way too lenient and, as a result, thieves are not afraid of the consequences. If the laws were to impose harsher penalties for those crimes, then, I firmly believe that those types of crimes would be far less than they are right now.

look how long catalytic converter theft has ramped up. But, no new laws have been created to address this issue. As a result, we all are paying for it with higher insurance rates and more.

I say that the powers that be, should at the very least, allow vehicle owners to rig their vehicles to deter theft. Therefore, if a thief ignores the law and warnings, and decide to mess with any vehicle…….the thief should suffer the consequences. Whether it’s maiming them, or killing them from whatever contraption the vehicle owner has cooked up for them.

Guess we all have different definitions of what's cool and what's not. Having been all over Louisiana, and the country myself (born there) I can certainly say that not all of Louisiana is trash. It's got nice places to live (if you like to sweat all the time outside). And yes it's a dumpster fire, but if you boil a large pot of seasoned water on top of said fire you can cook some mighty tasty food.

Personally I don't think we need new laws on the books, that's the typical knee jerk reaction of law makers. Theft is theft, we need the courts to do their job and protect the victims going more toward the maximum sentences.

There was a lady in Houston two days ago watching her son’s baseball practice from her car. Along come two moron idiots and they carjack her. These people along with others need to be made an example of showing them there will be swift severe actions taken if you commit one of these crimes!!! It is WAY BEYOND BAD!!!! out there (everywhere)!!!
