Call me crazy........ but I've been thinking about mounting a whip antenna/flag to my existing ditch light mounts near the lower A-pillars.

This was something I was thinking about last night. I'm not 100% sure about the ditch lights, but opening up the mounts to flags could be a good option.

    But, I'm not @brimy311!
I'm hypa, well known in the Subaru world from 2002-2014, and the Honda world prior to that.
    :D

I just quickly googled the ditch light pic and loved the colors on that Tundra.

I came from a Land Cruiser club. Sold my built LC and picked up a '17 4x crew max. I'm planning on fabricating a bracket that bolts to one of the existing bolts on tail gate jam. Almost like an antenna mount for ham radio

I don't know where my Dad got this from, but I kept it for this purpose, BUT! I might have to chop it down as the tailgate won't come down, I'd hate to do that and I'd have to get a longer pole for flag, IDK

My poles are a little over 5'...I wanna say 5'4" or 5'5". They hit the bed and give me good flag clearance above my rails w/o being too tall. I've even run with them down the highway for a short spell.

I know you're busy, but when you have time can I get some pictures of how you have the flags secure to the pole when you have a chance

Yes I did, but I have a bed cover, so when parked at beach or park or event the cover has to be fully open, and flags won't be straight up

I’m not trying to upset anybody here. I believe that flying a flag from a car is protected by freedom of speech but I just wanted people to know what i was taught. I am prior military and we were told never to fly an American flag from a vehicle. We were taught that the American flag is reserved for flag officers and the President of the United State’s vehicles . Especially don’t fly American flag from a foreign car. Yes I know her Toyotas are made in US and probably made with more American parts than a Ford f150. So I just fly my flag from my house as to not piss anyone off. Happy 4th.

I have the Rago flag holder. I need a flag rod that can hold freeway speeds. I’m doing a memorial run, nextweekend for a fallen officer.
    Any suggestions?

What does the Rago deal hold? 3/4" or 1"? Get a 10' section of conduit pipe, cut to 5', get a couple of eye bolts they come with washer n nuts in the hardware section at Home Depot, hold the flag from the top to bottom and mark your holes to drill on the pipe, I used 1/4" drill bit, also got 2 S hooks, pinch down one S hook on an eye bolt for the top and the other for the bottom, then put the flag on the other end of the S hook and pinch it down

@T-Rex266 the flag you have has the 2 holes and the top and bottom or does the flag have a sleeve for the pole to go through?

You can see the actual shape and size; steel thickness is just 1/8" mild carbon steel. I took a 2" long piece of 1.25" steel tube and welded a cap on one end. I then welded a bolt to that cap. That bolt sticks down through the hole on the flag holder and I use a nut/washer to hold that to the flag holder. I put a long piece of conduit tubing into that 2" metal tube, and drilled a small hole all the way through. I then hold that conduit to the base with a bolt/nut. Flag attached to the top of the conduit.

You can also order flags with the whip antenna off Amazon. For riding the dunes (Pismo Beach, CA). The bottom of those poles have a 1/2 galvanized bolt with washer and nut on the bottom. Those fit my flag holder perfectly.
