Was a beautiful day today (sunny and close to 60 degrees) so played with the truck a bit. Saw a picture of BayRunner’s truck and would like to thank him for a GREAT idea.

Given the dark color of the truck and the black pieces on the Tundra, I thought the flat black would work best. What is interesting is that depending on the way the light hits the surface, there is a ghosting effect which was kind of unexpected but I thought was cool. The entire exercise cost me less than $15 and some time. I'll include the materials used (3M Vinyl) and tools and then some pics of the truck if anyone is interested in doing the same to their Tundra.

Let me know what you guys think in the poll!

It's a nice subtle touch, not over the top or tacky.

    Nice DIY job! :fingerscrossed:

    Thor,

Love the hot rod...went through a 67 and had a ball.

BTW: what size tire are you running on your Tundra?

Looks good! I was kicking around doing something similar with the heritage red/orange/yellow stripes.

Whoa! Super nice 67 Stingray!!! It's amazing that the design of that car was such a short run (1963 - 1967) and it is timeless. It's still an icon! :101010:

The tires are Nitto 275/65R18 116T in TRD rims.

As you can probably tell... I'm a real motor head! That's a 1961. I have had it for years and never really got to it; however, it is on the agenda for the Spring.

Back in the day I had a 1969 SS with 350 LT1 and turbo 400 with a shift kit. Car was Marina blue, white Z28 stripes and a white convertible top. The 69 Camaro is one of my all time favorites. Buddy had another one of my favorites... a 1969 Chevelle SS with a 396. I just caught the end of the muscle car era when gas was cheap and a kid cutting grass could save enough to buy one of these. Them were the days!!! :oldglory:

I had a 1972 Chevelle hard top, loved it so much bought another 72 but it was a SS 454 convertible. Then a 1968 Camaro convertible, it was tripoli turquoise with a white top and a white reverse hockey stripe. I currently has 2, 2002 Camaro’s. A B4C and a 35th Anniversary Limited Edition SS convertible.

    I like it.
Only thing I would change is swap out your TRD bed decal for one in the same matte black vinyl.
Same design, just in matte black to match everything else on the exterior.

True... twins but not identical twins!

Changed it up a little bit... in the Corvette racing days in the 1960’s (sound like a old guy... cheez) the stripes were painted on the left front fender so the crew could identify the car (e.g., as it came into the pits). The stripes back in the day were forward painted so when I put the stripe on the bed, I made them forward painted.

They look good either way and as I stated in my first post, GREAT idea you had!
