Looks like a manufacturers plate. Appears to be MFR on the left, from top to bottom...

Yes. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were coming to film a commercial.

It's definitely a test truck. My neighbor works for Rivian and brings home a test truck from time to time. The release date is Aug. 2021.

Going to let the tech mature a bit, but I suspect that will be the truck I buy next. Looks well ahead of anything coming from Toyota, Ford, etc..

They are very cool toys for rich people who have mountain homes in jackson...

Those who think them ugly need their prescription checked. Your current glasses don't work. lol. [yes, 'in the eye of the beholder' and all that]

I want one for short-distance camping. That camp kitchen that comes out of the tunnel behind the seats is just cool. And snow peak dish sets... But they're only useful as second vehicles.

Saw him the other day too. He was hanging out at the Stagecoach bar. Was shuttling skiers up the pass. Had 3 people in the bed.

I think the Rivians are great looking, especially as an SUV

At least it looks better than Tesla’s truck, but I guess they set the bar really low. It still feels like the Cybertruck is a joke, I thought Elon had Punk’d us at the reveal. Especially after he broke the window!

Agreed, with the caveat that I'm not sure about the front end...very androgynous I guess.

That front end is the part I can't like. Those vertical ovals kill it. They should have stayed with the horizontal theme, bad styling.

I didn’t like it at first either but I got over it. It’s still the best-looking electric so far. Specs are legit. The company sounds better managed than Tesla too, and is bank-rolled by Ford, Amazon and some serious players. Rivian is here to stay.

Sure, I could look past it too. I think if/when I have to part with the ol' ICE, the Rivian with certainly get the hardest look.

I don't doubt they will be popular and produced in good numbers, I just don't like the lights at all.

GM once backed an electric vehicle company too, doesn't always lead to success.

In this case, I think it will. The world has changed. Everyone consciously or subconsciously believes electric is the future. Tesla is killing it. Electric vehicles crush gas-powered vehicles by most metrics, except for maybe mileage and towing, but the gap is closing fast.

I'm not necessarily arguing for electric over gas, and I love my V8, but the writing is on the wall.
