Have been driving for nearly a week now and the tank as of this morning was at half full. I know the dealer didn't fully fill it. I went for another trip today and the distance to empty had jumped and my fuel level jumped to full as well. Double checked with my spouse, she didn't fill it. Not sure if maybe a family member stopped by and topped it off as a late gift or something to explain it, so took it to the gas station. Sure enough put 11 gallons in.

    Anyone seen this issue yet?

It was either here or FB someone had a gas gauge issue too. Is yours analog or digital screen?

anolog on gauges, distance to empty is digital. DTE may just be estimate based on gauge reading.

I have seen this happened to another as well. Someone mentioned this can happen with new trucks. Run it through a couple more tanks and it should/might resolve itself..

I’d bet money it’s an electronic thing. I say this because my wife had the same issue with her ‘20 Highlander. TSB was issued and they flashed a fix, and now it’s fine.

Will need to take it in I think. Got near half a tank again and the next time I turned it on it said full again with the DTE reset to match the fuel gauge.

This is why you don't buy a new release until the bugs are worked out. There are some that already have check engine lights.

I hear that a lot. But of the 8 new cars I bought, the 3 that were new for that model year had fewer problems than the ones that were 3-4 years into production. Any car can have problems. Do your research. I might shy away from brand new engines or transmissions, but the 2022 Toyota, I think has neither. Other problems are temporary and easily remedied. I'm not scared of new models.

I wait for this type of comment to get posted on any "issue" related thread for the 2022. It's like getting that last needed ball for a bingo.

I agree. I mean the Jeep XJ with the 4.0l is a great example. The XJ was one of the longest, most mass-produced vehicles. Some years had weak transmissions, some years had weak rear axles, and some years (I'm looking at you 2000) had weak heads that were famous for warping. The XJ had been mass produced for 17 years by the time the 2000 model year had its warping head issues. Issues occur. It happens.

The bigger question should be, "Which auto manufacturer do you trust more to fix issues quickly and reliably?" My answer is always Toyota. My 2 cents.

My guess is the sensor needs a reset or some small issue that won't take long once they get it on a lift. I am taking it in Saturday and will sit over with the inventory manager and shoot the shit for a bit while they look at it.

Mine did the same thing one day it went from full to half drove around for about 30 miles and it slowly came back and has not done it since. I have come to except that newer vehicles do weird shit.

The waste gate actuator is a sensor issue, but it's a costly repair.

yes but also sucks to have them take apart brand new trucks, leaves room for errors and shit not working right

eitherway, it sucks to have a major repair with <1K miles on a new rig, with parts that may or may not be readily available

this is what everyone rags on the big 3 for

It's common knowledge that a new release will have bugs. Some new releases have had driveability issues so yes it can be a big deal at times.

Correct me if i’m wrong, I don't pay much attention to the 2.5’s…but aren’t the 21’s shitting steering racks?

My early 07 has 200k and I don't know where the CEL even is in the cluster.

It can be hit and miss…year to year.

Agreed stuff typically gets better as it goes, but nobody is a fortune teller.

There is about 150 of the 21's with the rack issue. There a difference between a manufacturing issue, bad production lot, etc vs issues with a whole new release.

Right. But It’s also extensive too. Requires an entire manifold and wastegate setup form what I’ve read

I think we are in unique times with extremely low inventory and very high demand. I would bet even Toyota's QC will slip as they are under pressure to deliver units to dealers. I wouldn't want anything off the assembly line right now, not even a model with no changes from the previous few years with this much pressure to pump units out!

Speaking of gas range and DTE, Does the 2022 Tundra DTE go to 0 or just warns low range when it reaches a certain distance?

Took about 40 minutes to diagnose and recalibrate it. Easy fix.

Yep. When you completely redesign you get issues. It’s a given. The big 3 do it more often trying to improve on things. Toyota hasn’t changed anything in 14 years. The same thing for 14 years better be reliable. Everyone was saying how Toyota wouldn’t have issues before the release. Too many unrealistic diehards out there.
