First Gen headlight housings...WTF!?!?

So now that winter has arrived up here in the frozen tundra, my planned mods are on hold as I don't have a garage. That leaves me planning out things to do once spring hits, and slowly gathering parts so I have something to look at during the long, cold, dark nights.

One of the things I want to do is replace my headlight housing assemblies. Both of mine, plus one signal/marker light housing are cracked and have condensation in them. No worries I says, off to the confuser and let the fingers do the walking.

Well...I damn near had a jammer. Toyota Parts Direct Canada....$265 EACH for the headlight housings. NAPA Auto Parts...$300 EACH!!

So for two headlight and 2 marker/signal light housings I'm nearly $1000!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!????? For that price, fuck em. They'll stay cracked.

Somebody please please please tell me you know where I can get these parts for like....half that. I don't need them right away, but I at least want to know where I can get them when I do...

 

have you checked junk yards or craigslist? or ask us to look around for you to see what we can find

 

I just checked on Amazon and they have 1st gen headlamp assembly's for less than $100.00 a pair. Check around.

 

I have. There's no 1st gen's in junk yards around here because Toyota. They're not popular enough in this area to have a following. I might need to see if anyone can come up with something if I don't find any when I'm ready to do an install.

I need a tailgate latch too. Wish I could find one in a wrecker...

I've checked Amazon.ca and there's only two, both around around $200. Alot more selection on Amazon.com though. I might have to try ordering through there and shipping to an address just south of the border when I make a visit to my hometown next year which is 20min from the border.
