I know the local ace hardware sells a fire pit kit that is brick and metal....might try a quick internet check. I’d take a picture of my fire ring I did last summer but it’s buried under about 4 feet of snow!

Not what you asked for but seriously just came inside from working on mine. No cooking for us just enjoying. “Fire pit” is a drum from old washing machine. Used the CrewMax to haul all the stone, of course! Good luck with yoursD3C3C038-883B-4CC5-8519-2EFBD6C1E99A.jpg

You described exactly what I’ve got. Problem is, this fire pit is about 300lb.
The cast iron grates lift out.

40” across the inside and the bowl is about 14” deep.

It’s a pressure test cap left over from a job. About 5/8” thick steel. I welded the shelf on the side from some 1/4” plate and the grill is some left over trench grates from another job.
Unfortunately, not something you will find at Ace or inside of a washing machine. lol

I want to say like 22. I did 2 rows and left a little larger spaces between the bottom row for airflow and butted the 2nd row together.

Exactly what I want to do vents at bottom and also make a heavy duty fire grate out or rebar a few inches off ground
